I hadn't seen a thread on the HE spacer, so here goes:

I'm 6'3". 34" inseam. The first thing i noticed was lack of legroom under the steering wheel in my 348.
Knowing it was a MOMO steering wheel and having had several other cars with MOMO wheels (datsun z, BMW E36) I knew I could get a spacer or a wheel with a lot more dish (or both). I opted for the HE 2" spacer. After this point, if you try this at home, proceed at your own risk, because this is really just something you read on the internet.

    Step 1: Disconnect your battery.

Step 2: Separate and pull up the lower two edges of the horn pad. The horn pad pivots on the top edge.

With the horn pad dropped down, you should see the yellow and green, and a black wire coming from the center of the steering column. Image Unavailable, Please Login

DO NOT try to disconnect them down in the column. They're riveted down there. Disconnect from the back of the horn button as so. You'll have to fish each wire back through the insulator tube.

    Repeat with the black wire.

This is where disconnecting your battery comes into play. If you didn't, you should at least insulate the ends of the two still live wires with blue tape so you can feed them in and out of the metal parts without them touching each other or the metal parts.

Next, remove the steering wheel. The factory countersink bolts are loctited. Take the steering wheel off, and a spacer will be left. That spacer will go on BEFORE the HE spacer. It helps to center the assembly.

Now carefully align the spacer holes and the HE spacer, and finger tighten the bolts that hold the HE spacer to the steering column.

In hindsight, it's a good idea to tighten them now, becasue they're easier to get to without a steering wheel in place. I tightenend them last, it was more difficult.

Next, you need to attach the steering wheel to the HE spacer. I used the new bolts that came in the kit, but the old original ones are the same thread.

Tighten the steering wheel bolts with a 3mm allen.

Next, fish the wires back through the insulator sleeve, and make sure to slip the sleeve back over the connectors.

You'll have a LOT less room to work at this point, because you still have the same length of wire, but now the wheel is 2" further out.

slip that insulator back in place, and push everything back into the column/spacer cavity.
