I understand and that is why we try to offer longer and shorter drives. This one was rather short and remember you can join and leave on a drive at any time. That's what cell phones are for...

Oh,no doubt,we all have "Lives". I have a Wife and Teen Aged Daughter, and get my Son every other Weekend. But,you gotta make some time for yourself once in awhile. Why did you get your car? I got mine to Drive and Enjoy. I do my thing around the House all week. And,am Starting up a new small Business. (Keeping it small so that it DOESN"T take up all of my Time...:) )

But,we've only had maybe a Half Dozen drives,or Get togethers the whole Driving Season-Which is TOO Short up here in the Midwest. We plan these for EVERYONE who may want to get out for a little while, and just Drive their Ferrari with other Enthusiasts. Get together for some Driving,Sharing Stories,Eat and Drink...Comaraderie. Thats all. Usually with several weeks,or Months of Advance Notice,as to make it Convenient for everyone...Time to plan.

No,they aren't "Madatory" by all means. This is meant to be FUN...:) But,as I mentioned in earlier posts...You only Live once....Our time on Earth is Limited....(I had a good buddy pass away suddenly,7 years ago at the age of 36....Totally unexpected) Our Driving Time is also VERY Limited, between Family and Work Obligations. Which,I don't think that anyone argues is Ist Priority above Driving.

Then,a short Driving Season. And,the chance of it Raining on one of those Rare weekends is 50/50. So,that cuts it down even further. So,all we are trying to do is OFFER some nice Drives and Events for you to Enjoy with your Ferrari. And,then again, that depends on if you bought it to Enjoy,or bought it for an item in the Portfolio. I got mine to Drive and Enjoy...I can Look at it everyday. I can peek underneath the Car Cover every so often in the Winter. I want to DRIVE Mine.

These cars certainly are awesome too look at...they are even more awesome to drive...And,it's more fun to do it with others than alone,IMO....:)

And,when I do go on a Drive or Event,My Wife and Kids find something that THEY want to do. If it's my weekend with my Son,ofcourse he wants to come with Dad in the Ferrari. Wife and Daughter go to the Mall,Shopping,To Church, To visit Relatives,to the Health Club that we belong to,whatever. Just as they have Their need to do their own thing once in awhile. They also understand that I have mine, and have no problem with that. They have even followed along in the other Car to Car Shows, and looked around and left when they wanted to. No problem.

Actually,My Wife and Daughter are Glad to get me out of the House for a while...:)

Didn't Dave B. show, I didn't see his car in the pics? Last I saw, he said he'd be there.

The time to do the Route 66 drive is during the (I believe annual ?) event.

I did it a few years back with a girlfriend, and we took 3 days. Attended a big picnic somewheres south (might have been in Springfield).

Had a great time, but didn't want to continue on to the end in CA as many do on the tour.

Dam* it Frank, you're ruining all of my fun!

Why did I ever let you figure me out?? ;)

Big Hug,Skip...:) You a berry,Berry Funny Man...:) No,Dave was sick.Allergies. My Wife has had the same thing all week. She had really bad sinus headaches, and was Miserable. Our Doc. gave ger some Rx Allegra Samples to try,and it worked great for Her. I am lucky that I have never had any Allergy Problems.

Yeah, maybe next year we can expand the Drive on "The Mother Road" alittle. It was fun just to see exactly where it goes from the Start in Downtown Chicago,of all places. Really kind of Interesting, seeing all of the Different Scenes-(Urban,Suburban,Industrial,Commercial-with some "Route 66" Businesses.) We just took it through the City, and Suburbs out to Burr Ridge/Willowbrook to "Del Rhea's." So,it really didn't take long-3 hours tops, including Lunch...:)

But the Waitress at Del Rheas asked us...."How far you taking it?" We said..."Just to here...:)" But she gave us a pamphlet with lots af really Cool Information, and lots of Cool things to see,JUST in Illinois, alone. Maybe we can make it either a Longer Drive,as far as we can go until, say,Mid Afternoon, then turn around. Or,Make it an "OverNighter",and take it all the way through just Illinois. Just here in Illinois there are some really neat things to see on Old Route 66. Lots of Options. And,if we do,anyone can join in,or leave when they want. Or,do the whole thing.

We just want to put these Drives out for anyone that wants to participate. Last Year,I thing we did a Drive, kind of Last Minute, and there were some posting here,"Hey,Why didn't you tell me/us about that Drive. I/We'd have come." So,here they are....:)

Yes,last Friday,I saw on the News, the LT. Governor,Pat Quinn Downtown promoting Route 66 with a Bunch of old cars. It really is a neat thing to do. I was just imagining all of the people who took it all the way out West in some beater car, maybe to Hollywood,to try to "Make It". Or,Families relocating. Or,simply a Vacation for some. Back in the days when the Highways and BIG Cars with BIG Engines were King....:)

Yes,I'd love to,someday, take it all the way out West. Take a week, for each way,and stop and see all of the neat things and Towns along the way....I have Family in Phoenix and L.A.,so that would be nice, too.

For several years now I and one or more pals have been taking approximately annual trips to explore parts of Illinois we haven't seen, on the theory that (a) we should know more about our home state, and (b) any place the size of, say, a couny has something interesting in it if you dig a little bit. We've had some good times... This year we went down to Metropolis, which is at the southern tip of the state, on the Ohio River, for their annual Superman Festival. The high point of the trip, however, was discovering the roads down in the far southern end of the state: great hilly, twisty roads, through some of the most beautiful scenery in the state (the Shawnee National Forest). Getting to those roads requires crossing lots of the flat boring parts of the state, but once there, it's fantastic. That could be a great place to take a multi-day trip. In fact, a sort of loop around that part of the state could include as the main leg of the trip down or back most of Old Route 66, to combine a couple ideas.
