Someone had posted before - very cool to bring it to attention again, Jimmy. Perhaps the guys that made your headers could use it.

That is exactly what I was thinking, or another option to some of the current header blanket offerings.

Wasn't there discussion on why we would want to trap the heat in the header instead of letting it disperse ? I have no technical knowledge on this matter so please educate me.
I know the shield keeps the rest of the engine compartment from heat damage but ?

Depends on what your trying to achieve, its all a trade off. No real good answer depends on what hand you like to masturbate with. Personally I switch hand and gain a stroke

At its most basic level, maintaining heat inside the exhaust piping maintains velocity. As the exhaust gasses cool, velocity slows, reducing scavenging effects further upstream. The effect of exhaust scavenging in a properly designed system is beneficial to making power and improving volumetric efficiency in the combustion chamber from the evacuation side. Primary areas of focus as it relates to scavenging is up in the header primary pipe and merge collector areas, and dissipates the further away you get towards the exit. Secondary benefits are lower engine bay temps by keeping exhaust gas heat inside the exhaust gasses. There are also additional locally applied shields to protect more sensitive items specifically from radiant heat... rubber mounts, clips, wiring, lines, etc.

    LOL

These shields will definitely do what is advertised .... however like the factory manifolds ... these shields do not appear to be easily removed, at least without some damage to them.

I like the idea of manifold shields in principle, especially on a 355 .... but IMO it would be better if shields are easily removed .... so that headers and shields themselves can be inspected and serviced during an engine out ...... :)

Just the thing to allow your 304 stainless to decompose while you drive.

If you want to wrap your header pipes, please use 321 or 347 stainless.
