So I've just bought an early 308, and the stock exhaust system leaves something to be desired. Who makes the best headers headers for one of these things?...

I cant see much of a gain with a header swap, port matching the header better than factory will help and its been proven on a dyno. If you still have the heat shields in place, take em off and see the nice header that hides inside.

+1. I just did that on my '78 308. The stock headers are really pretty good. I agree about stripping off the old heat shield. I did that, and then had the headers Jet Hot coated silver. Very impressive looking. Also welded the test ports closed and removed the air rails and plugged them as well. Jet Hot coating is supposed to improve header performance and reduce heat. I've done it with cast iron manifolds in the past and been pleased with the results.

Don't underestimate the stock headers. Jet Hot them and they are as good as you can expect with a stock engine, IMHO.

The stock Ferrari Headers are great , just build off the flanges, i have a custom built system with 2 .25 pipes and stainless mufflers with a X pipe , I can Email pictures of it if you want.I had the pipes Aluminum coated then painted them flat black, and we utilized the stock muffler hanger, its very nice.

I asked a similar question to this not too long ago. The general consensus was the same as it is here. THe Euro headers have no advantage over the US headers. If anything, I feel as if the Euro system is at a disadvantage due to the lack of insulation the US manifold offers.

Go figure, I would have my Euro headers glass beaded and a pic coming soon.

Looks SWEET. Did you have them coated while doing a major service?
