I had visited RSD Japan late last year to check out some of their setups and their track 355 was fitted with a Saclam full exhaust system (headers, de-catted, exhaust). They said this system required no extra tuning and worked perfectly well with the 2.7 Motronic. They also mentioned with an added air intake system, it would be borderline lean. I don't plan on running an intake system anytime soon. Japan uses 100 octane , which is close to our 93. My question is if after-market headers , full decat, and exhaust is safe for 91 pump gas with the 2.7 as I've read it runs a little rich from the get go.

Nice looking headers, they seem to (finally) be of the correct length.

They could get another 3-5 HP from the system with a properly sized expansion chamber after the collector.

As to mods like this, after you do them, you really shod have the car on a dyno and have the 2.7 system remapped to avoid leanness.

This system retail for 10,000,000 yen. Current USD rate is 1 to 120 as of today. That puts this FULL ( headers + muffler) exhaust system at $8,300. Quality headers ($3000) + y pipe ($700) + straight pipes ($500) + muffler ($3500) will put you close to that number.

Here's the setup in action doing about 1:03 secs at Tsukuba on an untuned ecu with a stock intake system. 458 does this track in 1:02-1:03 in stock form.

2000 lb front challenge spring rate. This is the roughest car Ive ever seen performing on this track.

As in most cases, you shouldn't *need* to retune the car to perform with this exhaust. However, generally speaking, a proper tuning session will ensure that the AFRs are at a safe level (not too lean) and you will fully optimize the exhaust potential. I put a full exhaust on a 348 (no cats) and the AFRs stayed perfectly fine :)
