    Hey guys..
I'm heading back from Iraq here soon for some leave and wanted to see if someone had a running beater for around $1,000. I know it's probably a stretch, but just wanted to check.

    Thanks

Can't help you, but I'm assuming you're serving our country.

    Want to say Thank You!

What exactly are you looking for? Truck, car, something to rebuild yourself?

Yep, I'm in the Army.. Just looking for a cool car that I can drive around while I'm on leave - and then when I get home next year, start wrenching on. Something like a Fiat X1/9 would be too cool.

If you weren't looking for a beater car there is a DOT EPA legal R33 GTR in El Paso right now. White with bronze wheels. Low mileage very clean. Unfortunately, it is definately not in the "beater" car price range. $52K last I checked. I'll snag some pictures just for grins.....

You may want to consider a first gen MR2 although I dont consider them beater's. You get the mid-engine experience along with a reliable engine, just a thought and good luck.

Bring a Hummer back in your duffle bag.
Or get a Baja bug. Reliable and fun.

This Alfa Romeo GTV6 is still for sale. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170613

The guy has some other unique "junk" too. I haven't gotten a good look at any of it since it's dark by the time I leave work. It's been sitting there for about a month, so I'm sure you could haggle him down to less than $1000.

That Alfa is a money pit! I stick by my MR2 suggestion.
