Where are you looking to stay? When you say NYC, I am assuming Manhattan?

Also are you looking to just walk around an exotic dealer? Trust me, there are better things to do in NYC;)

That might be tough. I'll let those who are more familiar with NYC hotels to chime in, but that might be either a real dive or a real bargain.

depends on the date. Most likely a dive. Stay in NJ (Secaucus or something and bus in).

Daniel, What dates are you here?

You are looking at a 3 star hotel at best for about 150 a night. Your best bet is honestly to stay in NJ and take the bus in. The bus runs about 3 bucks each way. 150 bucks goes alot further in NJ. Sorry to sound so discouraging but NYC is always tough, especially staying in midtown, you are looking at abot 250 min + taxes.

p.s. thats in US dollars :D

well we arent really sure but we might bounce up the price a bit to get a 4 star hotel. And we will rent a car since my brother works for daimler chrysler. So we might rent a 300c or a magnum. So we most likely won't be taking the bus. But how much will A good 4 star hotel cost around a night?

Are you renting a car through DC? or renting a car cause your brother works for a car company? AFAIK, DC doesnt do the rental program anymore and goes through Avis.

Washington Square has a decent hotel for under 200, but I think it might be shared bathrooms/per floor.

I know of a midtown hotel for 100 a night, but the fact that I know about it ... If you plan to just sleep and then leave the hotel, then the accomodations don't matter.

Try hotels.com. For that rate, you will get the best deal there. They might even be able to get you in Times Square for that rate.

Check out the Affinia hotels in NYC at www.affinia.com. The Affinia Dumont is on 34th St. between 3rd Ave. and Lexington, IIRC. It is a nice hotel in a good location, very centrally located. It is a business oriented hotel, so it is possible you may be able to get a corporate rate or AAA or CAA discount.

Try the Sheraton across the river close to West New York and Jersey City. You can take the NY Waterway ferry to midtown (38th St.) or downtown (Financial District) and they offer shuttle bus service in Manhattan to/from the ferry terminal. It's convenient and the ferry runs every 10-20 minutes, depending on time of day; used to use it to commute when we lived in West New York on the river.

    Approx prices:

    Milford Plaza (times Sq) 139
Travel Inn (far West Side) 130
    Novotel (times sq (199)

Do not do that stay in NJ take the bus in thing. That won't be fun in the long run. Just spend the extra bucks. Rooms are hard to find, cheap rooms are real hard to find though. There is a Howard Johnson's downtown on Houston that is in a hip neighborhood if you are looking for hip. Normal hotel price in NY is 2-250. Nice starts at 300, the rates I quoted are corporate rates, so if you have any affiliations use them. Yale

You might want to try the Le Parker Meridian it is located in midtown which is a great location and this time of year you might be able to get it for about $250.00 a night. The nubmer is 212-245-5000.

    good luck.

Hi, I live in Manhattan but do not know much about hotels, so I use my travel agent who is also my best friend to book hotel for my visitors in Manhattan.
Please sent her an email at: [email protected] She lives in London but works in the USA and will get you the best deal.
Stay in Manhattan, this way you can enjoy the night life.

Try Priceline.com or one of the other sites. Dont stay at the Milford Plaza, its a dump. I used to get rooms on Priceline for less than halfprice, though that was a few years ago.
