Coming back over the hills tonight, I realized that 1988 headlamps are the pits. Are there any EASY upgrades for pre 88.5 Testarossa headlamp replacements with much better coverage and penetration?

The following is possible on the TR because of it's round head lights. It would be highly illegal, but will give you the desired results. I have not done it on my early TR, but I did do it many years ago when I was into Corvettes and I was seaching out the ultimate result. You can replace the high beams with aircraft landing sealed beams. The three glass positioning tabs on the back of the aircraft beam have a little different pattern, but can be dealt with. You will have to use a good relay to power directly off the battery. The results are incredible, but I would only use them when there is no oncoming traffic, or for lighting open fields to facilitate hot air balloon takeoffs!

There are various options available in H1 and H4 wattages. I have had on previous cars 55w low and 100w high all across. The low keeps the lights tolerable for on coming traffic and with 400w at night it will light up a dark road like daytime.

I would not run that load through the stock fuse panel. I would put in remote relays and just use the fuse panel outputs to switch the relays.

Replaces rhw sealed unit ( crap ) with a new lense and H4 bulb
Put silverstars in and you're doig just fine
I also have my fog running and daytime light ( on all the time and off with the highs )

Visibility up 500% by my estimation

That always seems to be the limiting factor.

Hmmm... to reduce the amperage draw, could a custom setup be built? Say... take those Hella beams with the H1/H4 retrofit and install, say for example, a DOT approved HID(xenon) light system from a Lexus IS300 ?

Do you think Susq. is being honest and disclosing that they are not DOT approved lenses and that the eBay Seller is just BSing about DOT-approved?

Still $11+$26 shipping seems like a great deal for 2 lenses and 2 H4 bulbs regardless -- am I missing something?

If the H1 bulbs are 55W, I just might buy the complete TR kit this Seller has:

Anyone have any experience with this Seller or his product? Cheapy knock-off?

No need for it to limit you to anything. As I said put in additional relays. There is even room behind the fuse panel. Just take power directly from the battery and use the orig fuse board outputs to switch the relays on and off.
