    I though fuses were supposed to protect against shorting overload etc.

    JCR - you are correct!


    dignini - the photos from the ad you linked to look just like my headlights, except mine are in much better condition.

    Also, I looked at the bulbs, and they are H1 and H3 bulbs, and contrary to what synchro suggests, the H3 bulbs from Hella, for one, also come in 100 Watt and 130 Watt versions.

    Two standard 55 watt lamps take something around 8 amps running on 13,2 volts. That is plenty enough to heat up anything that does not make a perfect contact and will easily fry a 40 year old light switch. That's why I recommend adding relays to any system that does not already have them.

    Kare, I am assuming you are talking about real relays, or the Lucas make-do stuff?
    If there is a possibility of adding real relays to an L series, without ruining the original
    look, I would sure love to know about it and possibly how to.
