I know that in the F Chat Dino world most people seem able to remove an engine before breakfast, but I really only do the basic stuff.

I need to change a headlight bulb, and the handbook shows a small screw to remove the chrome surround on the headlight, however my car definitely has no screw visible on the surround.

Not wanting to mess up by doing it wrong, how does the cover come off ?

Sorry for asking such a simple boring question, next time I will ask how to change a crankshaft.

    Thanks.

The outer chrome ring just pulls off, it can be rather tight at times but do not be tempted to prise it off with a screwdriver!! It could slip and result in a lot of swearing

Make up a small hook and insert it in between the headlamp and ring then just pull it off. You may need to shift the location so it comes off evenly.

When replacing smear some light grease on the rubber to make it easier next time!

Correct. The headlight trim ring is held in place by friction. Look around its perimeter with a flashlight and you will see where there is a small hole that will accept a hook to grab onto it. The ring is removed merely by pulling out. Once out you will see 3 screws on slotted holes. All that is needed here is to loosen (not remove) the 3 screws and the ring that holds the headlight on can be rotated and removed. At that point the whole light will drop in your hands.

As a precaution, I always place a microfiber towel under the bottom of the headlight ring so in the event it pops off, it won't contact the headlight well body paint (since one of your hands is holding the hook tool you're using). It's also handy for setting down the unrestrained, but still tethered lamp assembly, while disconnecting the (3) wire leads.

    Many thanks guys.
I suppose it comes under the "bleeding obvious " list of questions and answers, but just wanted to make sure.

Now where is my large flat head screwdriver...................
