    Hi all,

Working on a Swiss 1987 and it started having headlight motor issues. First they were just slow to go up, like a 20 second delay. We had to move the fuse panel out for something unrelated and afterwards the driver side was working and passenger wasn’t. Now neither comes up, however lights for low beam are on both sides. We tried diagnosing by making jumper cables to the passenger side motor and sure enough, the ‘problem’ went away. In other words, the motor went up and down.

My buddy had a hack to test if we could run both off of one left side of wires, basically doubling up on the driver side load. Once he did that they’ve never gone up again. Maybe there’s a diode or something I’m missing?

Pulled A, B and C connectors, all clean and cleaned the terminals so no corrosion. No discoloration, and I checked grounds at both motors. This is also a new GT Car Parts fuse panel and has maybe 300 miles since install. All burned connectors addressed and no jumper wiring.

Oddly if you crank the driver motor up manually, at one point it continues to full stop UP position and instantly returns to down, regardless of the switch position. Passenger side isn’t doing much of anything other than light coming on

I pulled relay C and I can see at terminal 85 there is 12V with the light switch OFF. When you turn the switch on, you get 0v, so I believe that’s what is supposed to happen. Then I get confused as to where to trace this. I’m including a picture we made of the motor and relays as best we could figure but im just stuck.

    Thoughts welcome! Thank you
