Hi From reading previous threads I have pinned my motor problems down to blown diodes on the headlight lifter motors. I have exposed and tested the old ones which show no readings in either direction and have ordered new ones. The question; which way round do the new diodes go, the old ones do not have any markings on them as a guide ? Thanks Harry Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just to mention the way to test the diodes, make sure to use the diode test position on your digital volt meter. The resistance setting does not pass enough current to the junction to see open one direction, 30-500 ohms reversed polarity. Or you can use an old analog meter. I replaced diodes in a Satellite actuator that were not bad. It is kinda rare that all four would fail at the same time. The 348 chasis schematic shows each pair having the cathode connected to the switch contacts and the anode (base of triangle) towards the chasis wires. FWIW. Thanks for the informative response. You mention the 348 schematic diagram, where would I find a copy ? Best wishes Harry
PS, I know its odd for all diodes to go, the fact is I bought the car with a multitude of electrical problems and I am working my way through the renovation. The left hand side will go down by itself but thats it, so I will be replacing all four.
