I believe I've traced my headlight winking down to a bad diode on the driver-side motor (open circuit in both directions). However, under the rubber casing, the whole motor and electricals are covered in some thick, rhino-liner like material (pictured). Anybody have any tips on out to cut/melt/dissolve through this stuff? Would hate to replace the whole motor for a component that's literally less than a dollar at an electronics store. I haven't been in there yet. Good grief, that sets new standards for weatherproofing. It looks like it's a thick rubber cover. I would go with careful surgery with an X-Acto. I found this thread, it sounds like the job only requires removal of the lower part (rear of the motor?) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q/183786-diode-location-headlamp-motor-please.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Thanks, Matto! I'd referred to that post for diagnostics, but I have no idea where they got such a clean motor! All the used replacement motors I've found ($300-400) across a number of sources have that gnarly coating on them. Will try to shave away at it with an exacto if nothing else comes up.
