Has anyone ever tried fixing a stripped headlight knob / switch?

The knob/swich to turn my lights on/off is stripped. I was able to pull the lever out, tried some gorilla glue but it didn't have the strength to hold in place. I now have the wrapping around the steering column off and was thinking I could disassemble and try something else. It looks like the signal light and lights switch are the same part and their are rivits preventing me from taking apart the piece I need to (at least that is how it looks?). Well maybe I could but afraid what I will do. Us Canadians have 3 days of summer so I want to make sure I don't screw something up and miss my driving time!

Has anyone tried fixing it before? Any ideas???

When you get it apart, you'll find the stalk has broken the mounting, I think. You may be able to use glue and baling wire to hold it together. My blinker stalk was that way, your headlight sw may be as well. (348?) There's been a 355 switch on ebay cheap for a while.
