I remember a bunch of discussion about some very expensive upgrades to improve the headlights/ bulbs in 348's.

Any reason this wouldn't work??? They are bright as hell and about $35 a pair

They might melt the chrome on the inside of the lens.
It will peel off and it will be even worse.

    Mine work quite ok (stock)

It is not as bad as some other cars from that aera.

It is not bi xenon, but what can we do.

    Cheers

I'm assuming that the 348 uses the same lighting as the F355. If this is correct, then the best way to go is to order these Toshiba bulbs from the distributor on eBay. You can replace the low and/or high beam bulbs. I, personally, replaced both. These bulbs are about 80% of the brightness of HID light systems at a fraction of the cost. Here's the Thread with the eBay link: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171084.

I'll check with sylvania, but I don't think the silver star bulbs run any hotter than OEM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned PIAA. They are expensive, but the quality is top notch. They are the same wattage as a stock bulb so heat isn't an issue and they last a long time. I have a PIAA H4 in my bike that's been there for almost 4 years now, same bulb. This is on a rigid mount Harley which vibrates a lot. The light quality is fantastic, much whiter and brighter than a standard halogen H4. :) They have both 9005 and 9006, as well as the H1 for lotusk's UK spec setup.

That is strange. I saw you had trouble. I can't believe that Ferrari would actually utilize different connectors in GB cars. The parts diagram doesn't show anything different. I remember that you stated that you knew about the need to trim the plastic on the base. Sorry they didn't work for you.

I think it has more to do with the US and our weird lighting laws. Remember, non-sealed beam lighting was illegal until 1985, and after that it was still a different bulb than everywhere else.

The PIAA'a are twice the money and no better than the Sylvania, infact the specs are about identical...

I've never tried the Sylvanias. When my bike bulb finally takes a digger I might give one a shot. I just mentioned the PIAAs since they worked well for me.

Again, my most sincere apologies. Looking at the Ferrari parts tables, I didn't see a difference in the lighting. I will note that for future reference. I hope it didn't cause you too much trouble.

I would go with HIDs over any bulb... Bulbs always end up burning out or melting

HID's can burn up too, and when they do open the wallet wide.

    Melting? Rarely.

Put in the 9006SU Silverstar ULTRA & 9005SU Silverstar ULTRA, easy peazy. About 20min per side. $100 for the 4. Sooo much better, now I can at least see the deer at night and see further than 20 feet than with the OEMs.
