I'm curious after seeing a thread about 328 headlining material being striped it appears there are some choices and applications...... some seems to wrap down around the pillar surrounds and package shelves. Mine clings to the roof only as the pillars are wrapped in leather. My '82 Mondial 8 has an orange and white large houndstooth pattern that reminds me of late '60s Chevy Camaro seat inserts/upholstery. It is particularly hideous, out of character on my black on black model.

I bought a beautifully elegant multi colored (darK) afghan throw at an accessories store that has black/gold metallic nubby woven chenille thread that I thought was a good go but it is stretchy and will require a backing possibly for strength and to prevent drooping but it was large enough to span. Also most headliners (industry standard?) are usually a light color so they don't make a vehicle cavelike but I'm curious how far astray Ferrari went on this, I know some are dark leather. Before I install it I thought I research it a bit before going off "fully cocked".

Interesting that we get to pick interior leather color and body color maybe convertible top color but headliner fabric as if who ever looks up and even notices. Never heard of such a thing!

How many different selections were specified over the years since typically if Ferrari made 500 units of any model in a model year (Mondials 5000 units 500 per year give or take)? That's is quite a few bolts of fabric and production runs being what they are and fabric designs are seasonal and yearly changed how many different varieties exist?. I would guess that Ferrari was not designing each fabric but selecting from what was available. They may have had standards to help installation, strength, weight etc, but each specifically designed I doubt it, even today the designers can do it but still there is some basic packaging based on what's available and pricing.

Please post pics of your headliners and note for what yr/model and color combos of vehicle. If they are patterned please try to show scale with reference ruler or 3" paper square (Post It note).

At what point did they become leather and did they always match the seats or are there tonal combinations here also?
How do Concours judges evaluate this subject?....... Just saw a sample of upholstery in a '37 GB Voison that rivalled the BMW art cars especially the black and white graphic one truly bizarre and elegant in that elegant Parisian way!
