I agree Clyde. It takes a special kind of person to try to outrun a chasing cop.

Reminds me when I was an idiot 18 year old I thought a car was trying to race me was flashing his lights behind me on route 23 in Wayne. Of course the stupid that I was in my Supra turbo accelerated to 100 miles per hour going south.

Turns out they were cops trying to pull me over for speeding.

Lucky me only got a ticket for illegal lane change and a screaming mad cop yelling in my face.

That's pushing it a bit, IMO.

Didn't the GB clear this with all the countries before coming through?

after few years or racing on autobahn's any cop would be mad about such a event. Maybe they got clearance for normal cruise - not reckless race.

I am not sure if I agree with this verdict 100%. I know they mean well but I think you are going to get quite a few cops that are going to use this to start chasing fleeing suspects and they will take it too far and innocent people can end up getting hurt in the persuit. I say, if the suspect is doing something eratic, let them go. It is just not worth it. Continuing to chase, can only lead to disaster. Just my two cents.

Some cops do take it to far. I think it was Americas most wanted a few weks ago showed those vorder cops going to jail for shooting at a fleeing car, the cop killed an illegal imigrant hiding in the rear wheel well. So I would guess that shooting a car may be considered excessive force.

The problem is the bad guys and even some not so bad guys that would never have tried to outrun the law will now know that they will not be chased. At least the chasing cops have flashing lights and sirens and is trying to avoid bystanders.

I was told by a police officer that this kind of behavior even stands with motorcycles.

I'm not condoning running from the cops, but officers chasing adds fuel to the fire, and that causes a dramatic increase in wreckless endangerment to others' lives. I personally disagree with the ruling. Another way cops can get away with ruthless behavior that shouldnt stand.

if your car ant easily outrun a police car you have no business driving that speed anyway and you are posing a risk to the public. This law is less for motorcycles and sports cars and more for idiots in 86 oldmobiles and minivans.

How about a cement truck. I saw a cement truck try to outrun a police car too.

Exactly. I was speaking to my brother a few weeks ago and he told me a police officer was speeding through a residential development last month and ended up running a stop sign chasing a suspect and hit a car at 90 MPH in a 30 MPH zone! Instantly killed the driver I believe. It is just really scary.
