Hello to all French FChat friends. I have a couple of questions for you, please.
If my wife and I were to move to France on a permanent basis (in the Rhone-Alpes region), after we retire at 62 years old, and if we both have EU passports, what are our options as far as Health Insurance?
    - Do we must live in France for at least X months before qualifying to the French Health Care system?
    - Untill the above takes place, how do we get insurance in France?
    - can we or should we buy complementary Insurance in the US?
    - Medicare/Medicaid do not "kick in" until we are 65, so what to do?

Any help, comments or ideas are very much appreciated.

    Merci!!

I'm guessing a start is to look up the reciprocal arrangements for your specific EU passport (for example from the UK we need a form/certificate of entitlement called an E111 or EHIC from our social security) EU - Health cover for temporary stays - Your Europe - Your Europe

Top-up insurance must be available locally if appropriate

There's often local ex-pat advice sites with better focus
