    Has anyone ever experienced a leak from the rubber coupling connecting the oil/water heat exchanger to the water pump on a 360? After removing the exchanger completely and cleaning the connections, should I apply some grease or something else inside the rubber coupling in order to ensure water tightness?

    Upon removal of the waterpump in order to get access to the heat exchanger, some coolant leaked on the timing belts but was wiped off and air dried immediately. Should I be worried about glycol contamination of the timing belts and scrap them and change them out? They are 3 months old.

    Go to the DIY section in the 360/430 area for 4 pages on the heat exchanger. And posting your questions in 360/430 area might get more responses.

    Yes they have leaked. No big deal. It is no different than any other coolant hose. Just be sure the surfaces are in good condition and the hose is good then use a good quality clamp.

    Coolant will not hurt a timing belt.

    Did a pressure test on exchanger and found no leaks. Held 90psi for an hour with no change in pressure. But I did find some metal shavings which looked like metal drill shavings blocking some of the inlet tubes on the exchanger. Any idea what it might be? Also I've been looking everywhere in the WSM for torque settings on the clamps attaching the exhanger to the rubber couplings and haven't found anything. Any idea what the torque settings should be?

    ok this it a old chat but ill answer it anyway. what your looking at is some of your Bearing material this is really a bad sign. i would so its mains not rods. If this was my car i would drop the pan and find where it come from. first take down the mains then drop the rods you will find it. Good luck. if you find it PM me me Pics ill tell you a way to fix it if its not really bad.

    The oil that goes through this exchanger is transmission gear oil, not engine oil

    Then that bearings in the transmission. Teeth chip. Sorry i was wrong thinking that was engine oil side

    No that is shavings from manufacturing, not from the tranny. They all have that when you remove them.

    OK so they just assemble them with the metal shavings and put oil in and send them out?

    No. The area with the shavings is coolant. The block or heads get machined and shavings can get stuck. Heat cycles and coolant flow can dislodge the debris and it gets trapped in the heat exchanger. Clean the shavings out and put it back together.
