Hello guys, Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a heat shield for this area (circled) of a 360 Modena? I am guessing that there is a part that looks like the left side, also visible, but I am not sure. If so would anyone happen know the p/n or a source for one? I looked at Ricambi but I am not finding it. Thanks for any help!

there is a heat shield on my 99 on that side. I don't have a heat shield on the left side and I have been told there should be one there also, my dealer said no on the 99. But never seen a car without one on the right side.

Thanks Mike, I am hoping to find one if it's supposed to be there. It looks wrong with one on the left and not on the right.

That shield is most likely just to protect the F1 components. If you have a 3 pedal car, they may not have it or need it, I'm not sure. If you have an F1 car you MUST have that shield! Here it is at Ricambi (part #27):

Thanks Chris, It's a gated 2003 so no F-1 stuff in there but it just looks odd with the big opening on one side and the other side all tidy!

    Kevin,
Since you have a 3 pedal car, my guess is that it didn't come with that shield (I'm 99% sure). Check with the 3 pedal guys if you want to be 100% sure.
By the way, great looking engine bay!

My 99 gated stick doesn't have it. Chris is right, only F1 cars... You could install it if you wanted though..

The F1 pump means it has to be there... Otherwise why impede airflow?

Oh thanks, I was just checking. I would rather not have extra stuff in the way if I have a need to change a bulb but if one was supposed to be there I would install it anyway. I am a closet stock-nazi, even though you'd never guess from the installed mods in the engine! LOL

    Question?
Do your capristo touch the chassis or the air box?
One of the reasons I change my capristo was caused by this, my gruppe M air box is bigger than factory and that caused that the capristo touch the rear grill.

You know I glanced around for anything that looked odd and continue to do so but it all seems to go together so well that I think I am good. Is there a particular area that I should be checking?

I have a late model 2004 F360 Berlinetta 3 pedal car & there is no heat shield there. The heat shield back in this area was only on F1 cars.

Why did I ever miss your question!!!! I recently discovered that the Capristo DID make contact with the GruppeM airbox and I have been going through great pains to modify this! The bead on the capristo had worn through the heat shield and started to damage the carbon fiber airbox!

For a bandaid I shortened the blue intake hoses that come with the GruppeM setup by 1/2" this creates the clearance that I want between the Capristo and the Airbox. About 3/8" now. But the box assembly is supported by the rest of the air intake assy (MAFS and other ducts) and I am not sure this is solid engineering. I plan to rig up something that will cradle/support the airbox from below and "hold" it up more but I want to do it smartly with emphasis on aesthetics.

I ordered up a couple of sexy polished stainless turnbuckles and want to somehow attach them to the old airbox vibration mounts locations on the sides (which are unused with a GruppeM). I may run a piece of aluminum extrusion under the airbox and attach these turnbuckles to it. Sounds great on paper! Well see how it goes.

We are doing demos for a carbon piece to go on the outside of this shield to hide the silver. Would rivet and screw in with this shield same same. Any interest let me know I can post pictures as we go during heat test's etc. My carbon guy is among the best in the business from racing boats....will be right.

If you must have a heat shield I would buy a pair of CS covers - they look great and are fitted to the exact shape.

IIRR the 360 manual Spider has that area closed in as I was looking at Dieger's car at the recent event in Charlotte.

This is the way to go for the F-1 if you like bling. Actually the metallic CS ones are very cool too. They are a little industrial looking being aluminum with a silver wrinkle finish but it is all business back there by the exhaust anyway. The only danger I see in the carbon ones, for this location, is that this is the hottest area of the car so carbon "may" yellow faster here if it is prone to do so. I am not sure if this is a quality issue or if there are new additives for resin to combat the effects for hotter areas.

I've got a 99 and there are no heat shields either. I've noticed on newer models the heat shield. I don't have the pre drilled holed in the chassis for them like I've seen.

I still want to cover up both sides of my gated manual car. I have been looking for some rigid but bendable heat shield but the only source I have found is in the UK and I cant risk it getting bent in shipment. Anyone have a reference?

If I'm not mistaken all F1 cars (Modena and Spiders) have the heat shield to protect the pump and reservoir. All 6 speed Modenas do not. All 6 speed Spiders have the area closed in by the engine bay panels.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.
