I was going thru my box of unused parts when I stumbled on this piece i forgot to install. I found Newman's picture of it installed but that's with the motor out. I can't remember if this goes in easy or will i need to take a day off from work to get her done.
Just did my alternator '82 GTSi this heat shield is the front shield by the alt. I pulled the aluminum water pipe from the water pump and the shield slides in easier. Just put a pan under the lower slip joint and let the coolent drain. Hope this helps. Rgds Wayne
If you take the two pieces apart first, they go in pretty easy without moving anything about. Getting to the two bolts to put them back in, once the pieces are in place, is pretty easy to do from underneath. Good luck, Paul
Chris, On the GT4 its easy it protects the right fuel tank from the header and covers the and attaches near the fuel crossover under the car. On my car I need it up in the air. Hey my cars apart again. It was running for two days before I took it apart..............I almost went with cactus gardening........probably would have alienated people at that forum too!
