    Hey all,
Finally got the heating working (that power-cycle trick worked!!) Thanks to M3Racer and JebCab.

Well now my problem is the same as before, the heating unit wont allow me to change the temperature only the fan speed. it displays 'E1' on the display, is this some kind of error code and what must I do to correct this?

Thanks to you all for all your advice so far.

According to the 348 Workshop Manual, an "E1" error code means that the "passenger compartment temperature sensor" is dysfunctional.

I would do the turning-the-battery-off-and-then-on-again trick once again and see if it fixes the problem. Otherwise, have the sensor inspected.

    Hi,
Where would I find this temperature sensor and what troubleshooting is possible to see if this works?

    Regards

Viresh: The passenger compartment temperature sensor on a lefthand-drive 348 is behind the perforated hole just above the drivers left knee. I'm not sure where it is on a righthand-drive 348, but I would guess it's in the same position, but on the right side instead of the left side.

It's not easy to get at, it requires removal of the padded section. I think there are a couple of screws to remove, but I haven't done it in a long time. As far as troubleshooting, about all you could do would be to get a multimeter and test the resistance across the circuit as you increase and decrease the ambient temperature. It would certainly help if you knew the figures to look for. Or you could just plug in a new one and see if that fixed the problem.

Ferrari has a special tester for diagnosing these things.
