Hello all, need some help from someone who might currently have there boot(trunk) carpet out!

My vents position flaps don't change and it only blows from the defrost, and the driver side (RHD) face vent, and a tiny bit from the passenger footwell (likley just leakage) I know this subject has been hammered to death, and I think it must have something to do with the HVAC ECU, but that's for another day!

Firstly, he is the issue, I noticed this connector in the loom was loose, and held down with gafer tape! Thinking I could secure it better (the correct clip is of course missing!). I pulled it apart noting that the male side from the connection is asymmetric! When I was ready to plug it back together, you guessed what was coming!!!... ...yes the female side is open without any orientation!! Bloody typical as I'm finding with so many of these random connectors they installed from the leftover Fiat parts bin!

My cables are: brown with a black strip, & black on the male side. Brown & white on the female side.

Would someone be able to confirm what way around this plug should be?

Any idea what it's for?.. Temp sensor?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Steve

If it's a temperature sensor, then the orientation shouldn't matter. The sensor will probably be just a resistor which changes resistance with temperature.

It may be the defroster sensor. On the wiring schematic, I see colours brown/black and black on the car side. The schematics don't give wire colours for the sensor side of the plug.

To prove the sensor plug "polarity" is not critical, just check the resistance of the sensor with an ohmmeter, then reverse the ohmmeter probes to see if the reading is the same.

    Cheers

Thanks that's what I was assuming/hoping for! But want to rule out any possible issues relating to the malfunctioning HVAC controls!

The other related issue is my recerculation flap is closed and dose not open with the switch! I hooked up a vault meter and there is no power to the flap motor, were as others report there's are permanently live! My Berlineta is a 1997.

On a 348, it is Evaporator Temperature Sensor. The wire colours are exactly as you described. The White connects to Black, the Brown to Brown/Black so your picture shows correct orientation.

Superstar, thanks that sounds about right. Now just need to figure out why I'm not getting any power to the recerculation flap?!?

Incerdentley my spindle is not made from plastic, its composite. So it's Not broken, I wounded did Ferrari change the material in the later models?

Both wires of this motor go to the AC ECU which sends power to the motor in one +/- orientation or the other, for closing and opening. If there is no power at the motor wires, the problem is probably in the ECU; in the case of 355, it is not the "ECU" at the console but the other one. The motor control is by a certain chip, probably via transistors which switch +/-. It looks like you need the ECU fixed.
