In a synchro equipped car, please use the clutch, and yes, wait 'til the end of the braking zone to downshift, whether you use the clutch or not. THAT'S what will cause the back end to come around and also causes the dreaded BMW "money shift." <grin>

Good luck! Those guys were like mobile chicanes for me last year at Mid Ohio.

At least the instructors applauded after getting lapped by a front wheel drive car...

That's why I didn't say DRIVE, at the end! <grin>

My standard speech... "Your goal today is to load your pretty insert-make-here back onto your trailer in the same shape it came off thiis morning. Your shiny car is your ONLY trophy for successful completion of today."

Seriously, we're just going to try and keep people safe...

(Said in good humor) Peter, you mean here i am spending $500 for the two-day event track time, $600 in gas/hotel/food, another $250 in tire wear, $75 in oil and filter, brake pad wear, etc etc and they don't event let us have a $25 trophy. Heck, guess many Ferrari owners should just skip the track time and but a caseload of trophys ;)

Ok, seriously, i know this one Ferrari owner in New England who does nothing but collect (buy buying or rigging) trophys. He is not an Fchatter, but the local Fchatters know him. Think i'm gonna have some fun with that guy at the upcoming Budweiser event.

TRUE STORY: of course we all have heard 'have the car in the same shape your brought it' speech. My car was dirty and had the usual leaves and junk on her from sitting outside. This was BEFORE the Lime Rock event. It rained at Lime Rock so.... after the track time my car looked BETTER than before the event. Amazing what rain hitting a car at 100+mph can clean off :)

I haven't been able to do it without burning the clutch a lot. My shoes are too wide and the pedals aren't level with eachother. Maybe if I wore Chucks. I don't see how you 3 pedal Ferrari guys can do it. The pedal box is way too small.

I "HnT" at the track and on the street (to stay in practice). I learned it at Skip Barber's Racing School where the Formula Dodge cars had non-synchro'ed gearboxes. We HAD to double-clutch heel / toe! It was quite comical at first. Lots of grinding noises!

One benefit besides the real ones already mentioned is.... it sounds cool! :)
