Ciao Is anyone participating in the Heidelberg Historic rally or going there today? I am near Heidelberg for another week or so, and would be great meeting some Fchat members. I may be reached at 0176 2829 4476 if anyone wishes to meet there or perhaps some action at the Hockenheim Ring. For GT/4 owners here is the prologue to an article I am writing about it ... Featuring the favored shape of the 70's, the 308 GT/4 is an idiosyncratic exponent of La Dolce Vita. Penned by Marcello Gandini (Stratos, Countach, Bugatti Eb110), it offers a sublime counterpoint to Leonardo Fiovarante's / Pininfarina's organic forms. Gigi
Hello, the best part of the Rallye was yesterday incl. Heidelberg, Sinsheim, Hockenheim...etc. Today they are cruising thru the Odenwald and its finished. http://www.heidelberg-historic.de/programm/ Best Wolfgang P.S. Maybe I`ll be in Eberbach at 14:30p.m. (Rallye check-point) for a short spin and to see the cars. I`ll call you later over celll.
Woooow!!!!! Back home, what a wonderful event with so many (175!!!!!!!!!!) beautiful cars. @plasmid, Thanks for the hint Gigi! I have called you over mobil 4 times and left a message on your answering machine. What a shame to start a thread and force the peoples to come and you don`t show up yourself At least you called me at around 17:00p.m. when the last car (Ferrari 308) passed. Anyway, I have had a wonderful day, drove the TR for 200km`s, sunny and have met a lots of peoples. Highlights I have ssen (HARDLY DRIVEN ON THE LIMIT) on the road/hill climing: - Bugatti T35 B 1929 - Bentley 4 1/2 Le Mans 1928 - Mercedes SSK 1929 - Alfa romeo 8C Monza 1934 - Porsche 550 A Spyder 1956 - Audi Rallye Quattro (Pikes Peak) 1983 - Porsche 911 RSR and soooo many Mercedes 300SL, Austins, Triumphs....... Got over 100 pics and will post a few of them later.
Hej Wolfgang, Yep, sorry about the phone - forgot it home, then went to Sinsheim where I called you from. We stayed until all the cars arrived ... so we saw the endless army of Austins, Triumphs, 300sl's and Porsche 356. Many nice photos. Bit boring towards the end, and that 308gts, which just happened to be the last car, was ... hmmmm Highlights for me, apart from the ones you mentioned, 1 very nice sounding race prepd. nsu, opel gt, saab sonet, bmw 507, a big lancia coupe, 1 relatively big fiat coupe (not sure about the model nrs) got a video of the blue bugatti trying and trying to start, then ... major noise I'll call you tomorrow - maybe have a drink or so Gigi
Gigi, yes, the 356, austins, Triumphs was totally overloaded - way too much. And waiting for the last car, the 308 - sucks at least. I never saw such an ugly 308 B4!!!!!!! Tasteless!!! Anyway, I`ll post some highlights pics later. CU Wolfgang
Here is a first teaser. 1. pic: the place/curve I watched the hill climing race together with some other car nuts 2. pic: The Bentley 8 3. pic: Bugatti T35B 4. pic: Mercedes 300SL Roadster 1961 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
OMG.....More more more... The Bugatti, was it a German-owned car??? And the Bentley..... Could it be one of the cars of Peter Godehart??? Looking forward to the rest of your pics
Carsten, the Bugatti T35B 1929 belongs to Mr. Hans Albert BELLER from Erbach, Germany. (Very close to me and that was also the place where the Rally went thru) the Bentley is a 4 1/2 liter Le Mans from 1928. Belongs to Mr. Horst Bernd THOME from Sindelfingen, Germany (close to Stuttgart).
Bugatti, Bentley and more, they are superb... thanks for sharing Wolfgang, and more photos are the welcomes Ettore Bugatti said of Bentleys, that they was the fastest trucks of the world. Best regards
did this rally pass through belgium at some point? i was in vielsalm (belgian ardennes) and 2 bugatti's tore past me. i believe one of them was that blue T35, and there was another (very dirty) dark green bugatti as well
Here is another pic from a very rare & expensive car: Porsche 550 A Spyder 1956 Property of the Porsche AG and driven by Mr. Klaus Bischof. After the race, he came back to drive the track just for fun for a second lap Have a look to all the rubber left in the curve from 175 cars driven hard up the hill Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
*S* good point BTW: Nice pics Wolfgang, alot of history there - looks like you're having a GOOOD time too
LOL, no chair, no cooling box etc...... Way cool it went. I arrived at this curve early and first. A few minutes later the VW Van and the BMW X3. They were well loaded with everything - chairs, table, drinks......whatever you wanted. They invited me for the drinks, got a chair and a wonderful afternoon together with them I`ll post some more pics later....
