First off, Greetings from Louisiana! I am a car enthusiast and have had many sports cars in the past, but only listed recent ones in my profile. However, I have always wanted a Ferrari. For the few months I have really began actively searching for a Ferrari to possibly purchase and have narrowed the models down to my first preferance, a 355, and a 348 runs a close second. Can anyone give advice or thoughts on either model. I am 6'1" and weigh about 235 so I'm not sure if this will be a factor or not. Also, I have heard many horror stories about the maintenence prices and parts. I am not rich by any means and I don't want to buy the car and not be able to afford the maintenence for it. Please help, and as always your advice is greatly appreciated.

Here are a few of my past rides just to help introduce myself.

Hi, Ryan - welcome to FerrariChat! You've got a nice, broad array of toys there; looks like you certainly know how to have fun. If you scroll down the homepage of this site, you'll see a model-specific subsection that has myriad subforums dedicated to various models - one of which is the 348/355 section!

I'm 5'11", and I used to be close to 300 pounds, and I fit in both cars no problem. The extra two inches might make a difference, I don't know (but I doubt it - we're talking about cars, not pleasing women). You should swing by your local dealer, and have a seat in either model if they have them. The 360 is the first V8 whose engine doesn't need to be hoisted out during the execution of a major service - so you'll pay handsomely to service a 348 or a 355. The 355 had some issues (manifold, etc.), so if you find one, you'll need to make sure all of that stuff has been sorted out already.

But search the 348/355 section; there's a plethora of threads covering so many different topics - you'll be an expert by the time you're read all of them.

Can anybody tells me how to insert a real photo (not a link) in thread? Thanks a lot.

    Click on quote.

Look down at a button called "manage attachments". Click on this and a window will pop up. In that window it has 4 buttons to "choose file". Select that button and choose the file you want to upload. Then, press the button labeled "upload".

When you submit reply, then the images will appear.

Don't believe all the horror stories. There's a lot of good advice what to look for in the 348/355 section. There's a close group of guys there that help each other.

One suggestion is to remember that "you get what you pay for". Finding a good one can take some time and effort. But, when you find your dream car, it's very satisfying.

Yes, they are exotic and yes they cost money. But thousands of ordinary Joe's own them happily for years.
