Hello. I suppose I should post in this section so you all know who I am. I have read an awful lot on this site these past weeks. Glad I found you guys as the posts helped me finally dial in on a car.

Like most of you, cars have been a hobby of mine since I was 15. I started with a Fiat 850 Sport Spider when I was 15. I paid $450 for it and fixed it up nicely. Sold it at a handsome profit of $1500 :) to buy an MGB....following the same vein I sold that to move to a Triumph TR6, TR7 (drove back and forth from Milwaukee to LA six times in that car), and my current FI TR8 which I have owned for 22 years now.

I have always done my own work save for major engine or transmission work (ie: the engine or tranny has to come out) so the fit is good. Hopefully I can translate my British car repair experiences into a slightly reduced cost of ownership of the Ferrari.

I am the "driving" type and will put around 5-6,000 miles a year on the 1998 F355 I bought. No garage / trailer queen car here. My TR8 has 180,000 miles on it....and I took third place in concourse at the Triumph National show a few years back along with a couple other awards :)

The car I bought has a very recent major engine out service and is getting new valve guides, exhaust valves & a few other things courtesy of Enginefxr as we speak. The car has an all new interior, new radio, two sets of tires, new Fabspeed header, cats & exhaust, etc. etc.... It still has some issues I need to correct, but overall it looks quite nice I think.

Some of you may know the car...it is Jetfxr's 1998 F355 F1 that took a bath during Katrina. I am A-Ok with the title blemish & the price we agreed to. Probably paid a little too much....but I know the caretaker of the car and the work he is known for....so we concluded the transaction this week. Considering I'll own this thing for awhile and I intend to drive it, I figure this is just fine.....

Beyond that I operate a paper converting business, am a private pilot with instrument, multi & sea plane ratings. I am semi-professional photographer (meaning sometimes I get paid but usually I don't :) ) and pretty proficient in most things electrical, computer & mechanical

Look forward to reading & learning....so thanks in advance for putting up with my newbie questions.

    Thanks for listening.....

    Be well,

    Randy

    Here ya go: http://www.tessfamily.com/TR8/TR8%20-%201980%20FI%20Triumph%20TR8/index.html

I'll be keeping the car along with the 355. I have had it too long to sell it...and the wife won't let me.

I'll need to do that. I have been so focused on the 348 / 355 section I didn't even realize there was an aviation section. Thank you.
