Allow myself to introduce... er, myself. I'm a long-time listener but first-time caller to FerrariChat.com

I don't own a Ferrari, but am in the market for a sweeeeet 550. So, if any of you ladies or gentlemen would like to part with your beloved Maranello, please reach out to me.

I do, however, own a Maserati, MB AMG, some new and classic American makes/models and so on. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a car habit and the stablemates are subject to frequent changes.

Looking forward to meeting and making some new car friends in the St. Louis and SW Florida (Naples) regions. Please let me know of Italian car-related driving and social events in these areas!

Incidentally, my wife and I enjoy the automobile culture and travel to a variety of events throughout the year. We'll be in Monterey in August for speed week and will attend both the Concorso Italiano and Concours d'Elegance as well as some of the historic races at Laguna Seca.

    Happy New Year everyone!

    Welcome Infidel.

550 is a great choice, a huge value, a total knock-out V-12. Good luck with your search.

Yes, I believe the 550 to be a good choice for my tastes as I have a particular fondness for front-engined V12 Ferrari GTs mated to proper gated shifters. It's a little "old school" for some, but that's the point of it.

My understanding is the 550 is a reliable vehicle (qualified for being a Ferrari, of course) and requires relatively low maintenance. The maintenance issue with an exotic can be annoying as well as costly.

Market values on the 550 seemed to have stabilized, too. I've been following auction results for the 550 for a couple of years now and they are holding relatively steady between the USD$65,000-$95,000 range. That's a lot of GT for the coin IMHO.

It's a buyers market, you can be picky. A bargain at 65k or a jewel at 90. I swear, the best deal in modern cars (the BB still the best in vintage IMHO).
