I haven't been on F-chat for a while now, but I was amazed when I logged into the F1 sight here and didn't see a list of appologies form all the Hamilton is GOD fans from last year. I was scalded and called a lunatic for suggesting that Hamilton was another Villeneauve or Hill that was just a fair driver in the best car of 08. This season proves just that. To all of you that compared him to Senna and Schumacher last year and predicted him to take all the records from Schumi and be a 7 time champion, I hope you all learned something. It doesn't only take one season, and a great PR man to be on top, but it takes tremendous skill, dedication, luck, technical know how, and a relentless drive to be the best. Hamilton is indeed a skilled driver, but lacks some of the needed qualities to be a legend. If he were as good as the press suggested last year, he would have that piece of crap up in the top 6 every race like Alonso is able to do with his pile as he out performs his teamate every week.

Your wasting your time if your hoping for an apology of me, I'am a LH fan and he is still currently one of the best drivers in F1 now.

If you were not impressed with his first 2 seasons in F1 then thats your choice.

Oh and please use the search function and find a post where anyone said, to quote yourself:

    good luck!

    Lol owned.

I don't think he sucks. For regulars on here they know i'm not a fan of him (his attitude mainly) but I definitely think he is one of the best out there.

I was watching him in 2006 when he was doing GP2 and the things he did there (in equal cars remember) where very, very good.

He made mistakes this year (most notably monaco, downshifting to quick and locking the rear wheels) but it has happened to all drivers.

For a driver to win a championship, he NEEDS a good car or else it won't happen. Just look at button. Last year his car was **** and now its the best (for the first half of the season, anyways). What has he been doing? Winning. Last year people said he was one of the worst and all of a sudden now he is the best:rolleyes:. Truth to be told, ALL of the current F1 drivers* are incredibly quick. A winning formula like schumacher only comes to exist when he feels at home with his team and the engineers can relate to him to build him the quickest car possible. Schumacher + brawn was an amazing combination hence they where winning constantly.

Time will tell if hamilton can build this kind of a relationship with his team, if not, he can only win championships by driving for the best team of that particular season.

    *Bourdais, of course doesn't count:D.

Show me a post where somebody claimed that.

I have actually a bet going that he will become a multiple WDC and I stand by that. But I don't think any driver will ever eclipse the Schumacher records. And I don't remember anybody ever making such a claim on here.

Hamilton is one of the top 4 fastests drivers in F1 (Alonso, Kimi, Vettel), but he lacks the skill to develop the car. If McLaren can produce another top car on their own or with the help of a good development driver, Hamilton will win another title.

Relax ladies your claws are showing....My post is served to point out a simple fact, that a large group of members predicted him to dominate the sport regardless of conditions, rules changes etc. He simply is not doing that, and to compare someone to the greatest drivers of all time, based on a Obama styled press core, and a bandwagon mentality, was silly. I am however not surprised, after reading some of the replies, that many here have not learned anything.

To ban someone because they do not have the same opinion as you is shallow. My posts are above board. The other users here are the ones that started with personal insults, and underhanded comments. My comments are simply stating that I was surprised at the lack of understanding here on the F1 section for Hamiltons good but none the less lucky season, and that none of Hamilton's fans seem ready to admit to that fact. Those of you that are resulting to threats "banned from the sight", and personal attacks, show that you cannot de-bunk that claim.

You don't get it, do you?

Different opinions are actually welcome because they stimulate discussion. I couldn't care less whether you are pro or anti Hamilton. That's not the point.

Simon2 has shown your own position on the issue.
I have challenged you on showing where folks made statements such as that Hami would eclipse the Schumacher records.

Instead of replying to those posts you raise the insult bar by calling us all ladies.

And now you have the nerve of going on.

    Goodbye troll.

Well, he's banned (thanks Andreas!) but I am sure he is reading so I will give a serious response.

I don't remember anyone who said he would "dominate the sport, regardless of conditions". Many people put him on the highest level of talent along with people like Alonso and Vettel and I think that is more than justified.

The McLaren wasn't the fastest car last year, but he won with it, despite FIA attempts to prevent that (or at least to prevent him winning based on his race performances). It is impossible for a driver to win if the car doesn't have the speed. Look at Alonso, one of if not the best driver on the grid right now - I doubt anyone disputes that. He can't win in the Renault, but he is showing up Piquet. Same with Hamilton, he can't win in the McLaren but he is showing up Heiki. And Heiki is a much better driver than Piquet, so it speaks very well of Hamilton that he's so far ahead in his performance.

I remember, I think it was 2005 when the Ferrari was just a total dog. MS would hoist that car into mid-pack finishes, despite the fact that it was one of the slowest cars on the grid. Same with the McLaren, it is one of the slowest cars around, and Hamilton is doing pretty well with it considering who he's beating and their relative cars' speed vs. his.

The bottom line of this thread is that you put up an absolutely impossible condition to be met (that Hamilton, if he is a great talent, should be winning in a bad car), then claimed you were right because this condition had not been met. If you actually had a leg to stand on, you would have been able to make a reasonable argument. Since you didn't, clearly you really don't have any valid basis for the argument. And to make an argument that clearly has no valid basis, and to call people names based on that, is clearly trolling.

And we know what happens to troll.s

While I don't particularly agree with the OP's statement, the intolerance exhibited by the mod is uncalled for.
Intolerance is a sign of close mindedness and ultimate intolerance has led to human disasters like the holocaust, Darfur, Rwanda and other historical events driven by man's intolerance of others.

You all need to lighten up, and calling someone "ladies" is simply sarcasm. If that is what it takes to be banned more than half the regular contributors to to FChat would be banned.

Careful. Reductio at Hitlerum is another reason for banning.

BTW: This is not a permanent ban, but merely for two days to give the user some time to chill.

Sorry guys, but I'm with Alex on this one. If his prior posts warranted a ban, it should have been done then. As I read this thread, with no horse in this race, it seems the ban was unwarranted. But hey, I'm not a mod.

The ban was clearly warranted. The guy just seems to say things to annoy people, not so much to make a point or have a reasonable debate. Enjoy your stay in Banville. Hopefully he learns his lesson.

I'm pretty sure I remember FerrariChat members overly gushing over LH ...

But I can't be bothered finding the evidence. Yes LH might win multiple championships, but as far as I am concerned McLaren should take 95% of the credit. Atleast with MS he deserves a couple of his ones for making it happen, and we know influencing strongly the development of the car (although I think this is now open to debate considering what Ross has done to JB's car). I've still yet to see LH get a decent result this year myself, one where I go "yep he pulled that car up". One needs to remember that there are many cars that out qualify the weak McLaren that have done so due to poor race strategy (Toyota, BMW, etc.). Therefore of course LH will eventually putter passed them if he keeps it on the tarmac. It's always been this way ... but some can read it and others cannot.

Anyway this year will be good for him personally, character building, etc.

Yup, we shall see. I have been on everything goes forums where there was little moderation and they always turn out the same: tedious and overly dramatic drivel that is short on any real content.

I'm against over moderation and have really thick skin, but such trolling is tiresome. It seems that Andreas et al show extremely good discretion in allowing drastically differing points of view and keeping the F1 section about, well, F1.
