Just purchased my first Ferrari! A 2003 360 Coupe with 14k from Ferrari Atlanta. I look forward to meeting lots of new folks on the forums. Quick question, if I turn on the ignition (not starting the car) to play with radio, etc., when I turn the key the starter runs however the engine won't turn over. I turn the key off and try it again and it will start. Is this some kind of anti-theft device?
Welcome and Congrats on Ferrari ownership. Not sure about your start question as I always get in and go. I think I only had the radio on twice in the five years that I owned my 360. Best wishes with your car. P.S. need pictures...
I hope these solve your problems... please post some pics of your car when you get a chance! Welcome to Ferrariland. Now the fun begins...
Yes. Two beeps unlocks and allows the engine to start for about a minute. I hope they gave you a manual. If not, get one. Wonders beyond your wildest dreams.
Working the alarm is a fundamental part of ownership that you should probably be really dialed in on before you head down the road so I'd suggest reading up about your car in your owners manual. There might be even more basic things you will want to know about such as the gas filler door location, how to turn your battery off, fuse locations, the correct alarm fob to use, how to enter the security code for your stereo, etc etc etc. While these are "just cars" they aren't quite the same as jumping into a Toyota, for instance, and heading out. Even easy mistakes can lead to some BIG repair bills (i.e. don't jump start your car). Again, if you are really new to your car you might want to bone up a little on the 'car and feeding'. Enjoy it!
made that same mistake when I picked up my 360 cranked on it for about 5 minutes in front of the dealer. was about to go back to the salesman and raise some hell until I clicked the button on the remote.
Really appreciate all the help. Just added the Scud shields (yoshields) and the Agency Power carbon fiber rear spoiler. I must say the quality of the CF is pretty outstanding and it fit like a glove. Will post pics soon.
