    I HAVE THIS 2001 FERRARI 360 SPIDER F1 IN THE SHOP WITH THE SOFT TOP NOT PROPERLY WORKING. THE CAR CAME IN WITH THE TOP DOWN. THE TOP WORKS THE WINDOWS AND THEN THE COVER SLIDES UP, THE SOFT TOP LIFTS UP AND THE COVER SLIDES VERY VERY SLOW, AND WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY THEN IT SEEMS LIKE IT JUST STOPS. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS BINDING UP BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PLACED ON THE FERRARI TESTER TO CHECK THE SOLONOIDS. I HAVE NO CODES OR CHECK ENGING LIGHT ON SO I AM ASKING FOR SOME HELP.

    Hey man, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we had the exact same problem and had to replace the hydrolics for the roof... apperently they just wear out eventually, and it's not cheap either. Good luck.

    Also, do I search of past threads. This problem isn't uncommon and has been discussed here before.

    Try the cheap things first, such as filling up the hydraulic fluid for the auto-top.

    Shop manuals are available at various sources, if this will become a regular customer, the $100 or so is a good investment. You can then read and understand the system design and logic function (rule 1 of diagnostics as you know). The later models unfortunately most times are required to be submitted to a dealer for the diagnostic hook up (don't start about F'car pricing until you check the new porsche costs!!!!!).
    You do not mention if the engine is running or not, this can have an effect, often the battery will just about operate the roof, with some assistance from the alternator things are much quicker and smoother.
