It's the same on my 82.The fuel pump fuse has allways been hot to the touch, since i've owned the car.I've pulled the fuse and pushed down on the contacts, now not as hot.Gonna have to get a birdman fuse block!

Because the CIS fuel pump current is very large (like ~10A) -- consequently, the I^2*R heat generated at the connections can be significant even for a very low resistance.

I note in your photo that the female wire terminal on the beige wire at the bottom of fuse #3 has been replaced with a "cheapy" crimp-on style replacement -- you might consider soldering this connection (between the wire and the female connector) to reduce its resistance (and the heat generated there).

You might want to consider changing/upgrading your fuse box.

That left fuseblock in the photo looks like it is one of Birdman's type already.

Steve is right, solder the terminal to the wire to reduce resistance and change the other fuse block to Birdman's as well.
(You should change the 25 year old relays too, if you haven't already done so. about $100 total from Rockauto.com)

my 1984 fuel pump fuse was also very hot.
it would really burn your finger!

I checked it, 215 degrees with car running (too hot!).

1st, I cut off the connector and kept cutting back the wire
until the green corrision was gone, took about an inch, there
was plenty of length available. (top pic)

2nd, I installed a new connector (a high quality one, not from home depot)
and soldered it. Now 155 degrees with car running. (mid pic)

3rd, I polished the spade coming from the fuse box and the contact area of
the fuse and applied some electrical conductivity paste.
Now 115 degrees when driving. (bot pic)

It's been about 2 years since I did this, everything is still great.
