When you did the fuel pump replacement, did you replace the fuel accumulator?
If you unplug the safety switch on the airflow metering unit is there any difference in the cold or warm starting behavior?
The old fuel pump was only running at half the pressure of the new one. Now it seems to get to much fuel, you can smell gas, like it is flooding. Is there anyway to a just the Bosch fuel injection system if it is running to rich?
Is there anything in the history about the fuel distributor head having a new diaphragm fitted, this comes as a repair kit on e bay for about £50. or $75. They use these on Volvo’s etc so easy to get. You might note the engine oil is diluted with fuel as 1 or more cylinders get excess fuel which does not burn and runs past the pistons into the sump. The sump level rises for no apparent reason. It’s an easy kit to fit as well.
Search on e bay as a few years ago and don’t remember. The distributor hear has a Bosch number I’d plate on it, use that to search
