Hello, I am taking my '99 355 in to my independent on Friday to replace the battery in the alarm siren box. Hopefully this will stop the led-always on-syndrome. Thanks to Bruce, I have the 2 batteries necessary to fix this. So, how can this be fixed permanently? From searching the fchat archives, Ferrari issued a 'fix' which will allow the batteries to properly charge/discharge, but, I can not seem to find out exactly HOW to do this. So, for those who have replaced the alarm siren battery, what else did you do (besides changing the battery)? Did you wire them to something? Help! Thanks again! Larry
Larry, I've seen your multiple posts on this subject...I really don't think there was ever a more definitive fix than to replace the batteries (or in some cases, just clean up the contacts inside). Regardless, it is not a huge cost or ordeal. Once done, you should be good for many more years. Regards, Dave
The service bulletin or fix was to wire the siren ground straight to the battery so that when the car battery is turned off the siren batteries are not fully depleated every time. Didn't work. Most off the shelf sirens have already been sitting around somewhere for a long time and the batteries are half done when you install the new siren. With new batteries and leaving the car battery on the way you really should anyway, they should last a considerable time.
