    Hi there,

I seem to have a problem and wondered if one of you maybe able to help.

I pressed the key fob to disarm the immobiliser and it did the 2 beeps and then I started and drove car only to notice the LED light was on by the clock and I thought hmmmmm thats odd.

When I got to my destination and pressed fob to lock car and arm the immobiliser it didnt beep but the car did lock and unlock but now without the beeps.

Then whilst driving again I got a call from the TRAKbak satellite guys to say they had detected the car in motion and wondred if there had been a theft. I said no but I noticed there was something wrong with beeps etc.

I called ferrari and they told me to turn battery off, wait half hr, turn battery on again and press fob. Then insert key and half turn and wait 2 minutes while diagnotics take place and then turn full on and start engine for a further 2 mins as more diagnostics takes place. this should resync the system they said.

IT hasnt.....can anyone help or suggest what may be the problem? is it possible the battery to the alarm system is dead and so it cant immobilise and deiimmobilise which explains why I could still drive car? Mind you the LED does flash intermittently still while car is off and locked. The ferrari guys have since gone home for the weekend.

    thanks

    Zak

This happened to me when i lock the car with battery turned off. In my case nothing to worry about.
First the normal state should be :
    - car locked and alarm on : LED flashing intermittently
    - car running : LED off

Now when you turn battery off with car locked then the alarm needs to re-sync. the way i usually do is when the battery is turned on i open both doors and try to lock the car. usally both wundows cycle (drop by an inch) and alarm / LED is reset.

    good luck and good weekend

    Hi there,

Thanks I am not sure if this is the same thing as battery was on before and doors were unlocked. when i tried turning battery off to restart syncing process the doors were open.

im just not getting any beeps at all.

normally turning battery off erases memory from the system.
then closing doors, locking using remote - one beep LED flashing, then unlocking using remote - two beeps and LED off then starting car - LED on on ignition then off when engine has caught, should reset the whole thing to were it should be.

If this does not work, then I guess it is something else.

Have you checked it is the same with the spare remote (if you have one) the remote's battery may be weak ?

Otherwise, you will have to head to workshop I am afraid

Sounds like your Alarm Siren may have battery issues. The siren located ahead of the right front wheel actually has an ECU inside of it and two NiCd batteries. There is a thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38676&highlight=Alarm+batteries about replacing these batteries. You have to cut the siren open as it's sealed. I do it with a bandsaw along the seam "carefully". Hopefully the batteries have not corroded so badly that they have damaged the unit. On this thread, fellow FChatter Bruce Wellington sells the batteries that you will need.
