There's a broken bolt on one of the bumpers. It snapped off at the bracket that is welded to the inside of the bumper. It appears that the bolts were welded to the bracket then the bracket welded to the bumper. What is the best way to fix this?

Will it be possible to cut off the broken bolt and then drill and tap a new hole so that a stud can be screwed in? Andres

How about a photo? I think the more info., the more solutions can be offered. Nothing like a photo...As Andy has pointed out a possible fix without damage, there may be more.

With maybe a Nyloc nut on the back of it & then the nut/stud stuck to the bracket with something like JB Weld as well for good measure....?

Alternatively, If its far enough away from the chrome then the thing could possibly be drilled/tapped & then a piece of stuf/threaded rod just tack welded to the bracket without hurting the chrome.

You cut the bolt to get the bumper removed and out of the way...

Then examine the bracket and weld a new backing hex nut onto it.

Are you sure it wasn't a free nut in the first place???

Took the bumper to the man who works on my cars and he cut a slot in the bracket, removed the broken bolt then welded a new bolt in. All the bumpers are off to be rechromed as soon as I box them.
    Thanks to all who responded.
