I have had my car for two weeks...have not driven it in 5 or 6 days and last night went to turn it on and it was dead. I connected the battery charger that connect to the lead under the glove box and this morning, nothing, not even a click. It is under warranty, but after calling Roadside, they said they would have to have it towed.

Any suggestions. The battery meter had the middle light on...this morning there was no light that I could see. The key does not even lock or unlock the doors.

    Thanks in advance...

How old do you think your batt is? Maybe it is time to replace?

Could you open your door manually using the key? If yes, I would open the door then open the hood (using the manual pull cord under the steering wheel) to get to the batt kill switch (corner left hand side - large black round knob) and turn it off for a while to see if you get any charging activities? What is the name of the charger you are using?

For Chevys the start is located... oh sorry this is a Ferrari and I presume you are referring about a 360 or 430.. I haven't read any past posts of yours I'm sorry..

Some information about your car and F1/manual would be nice before any suggestions could be offered..

2006 430 F1. Battery is 2 years old. I guess the battery was already dead so the battery tender would not charge it. I am going to get a jump box. I don't want it towed.

You will do considerable damage if you jump that battery.

    Don't do it.

Take batt out and replace it.

here is the issue. car is in my parking garage.

    problem 1:
I cannot get the screws loose under the glove box to get to the battery.
They are on there so freakin tight...

    problem 2:
not sure how a tow truck is going to get into my garage.

this sucks! what are your thoughts?

Use an impact driver if they're really that tight.

You really shouldn't need a tow truck for a flat battery.

The tow company coming later today to see if they can start it...I have a DeWalt so will use that if necessary if the tow company cannot loosen the screws.

Do not connect a tender or jumper to cigarette lighter.

    You will toast electrical system.

That is a no no on the 360's.

Just get the battery out and replace it.

    It's a simple fix.

    This is a 430 Coupe F1 2006.
Is it a special battery...any suggestions on what to get?
A new battery was put in Mid-2009.

Looking at the invoice, the battery was replaced at no charge.
I have the Power Warranty - is the battery included in that?

Interstate MTP-91 or Odyssey PC925 if you are in warm climate.

You need the bigger Odyssey if you are in cold climate

Do not jump start that car... you run the risk of entering a world of hurt you can't even imagine. Just buy a new battery and change it. I'm sure a little patience with the screws will yield results. It's a tough spot to work in, but it can be done :)

It's not a Ferrari, but YES. I use a cig lighter charger on my Ford truck as a trickle charger cuz the
truck sits a lot. Once in a while I'll forget to put it on to charge and the battery
will run stone cold dead. The trickle charger WILL charge the dead battery in my
case. Granted, it takes all day long to do it. But if the battery is just bad, nothing
    will charge it.

If you have the "simple" Power warranty, battery is not included unfortunately (as many other things BTW).

100% what GCalo wrote. Never connect anything in the cigarette plug! Take a good screw driver and get that battery out. It's the only right thing to do. I always used the stock battery FIAMM ECO FORCE VR760. Some members seem to have issues with this battery while I never had any problems at all. Tazandjan did put together some very good info about other batteries which may fit :f e r r a r i l i f e.com/forums/showwiki.php?title=Ferrari-Batteries

    Good luck ;)

    FWIW...

Has anyone HERE actually ever had a electrical system failure from a trickle charger or jump start? I have certainly heard the warnings but to date I have yet to witness an actual failure for all my years. I have quite literally witnessed dozens of Ferraris jumped started without failure. I have also been part of several Ferraris that are even currently connected to power port adapter maintainers and chargers. My personal slew of Ferraris over the years have all faired well on a number of chargers that the consortium here disapproves of.

One friend of mine has jumped started his 612 with his Jeep, a hand held jump pack, cigarette lighter power, factory chargers (C-tec), aftermarket chargers (Schumacher) nearly 100 times (not a misprint, his kid plays in the car & leaves things on) and has yet to have a failure.

That same can be said for multiple 360's, and 430's I am part of.

Please educate me as My CS seems to not agree with the nay-sayers.

Trickle chargers directly wired are no prob.

Connecting to lighter socket will bring up the sound of a relay clicking! not good.

One person in Europe I know had his 360 instrument cluster change to all 5's after a jump, and it went to Francorchamps for repair.

I remember Brian Crall mentioning a car going to his shop after a "jump". It did somewhere between $5,000 - $8,000 in electrical damage.

It's like remarrying your ex-wife. Don't do it!!!

Instead of replacing the battery, how about pulling it out and doing a full charge out of the car. I would take it to an auto parts place first to make sure it is good. Some will even charge it for you. If it is really only 2 years old it should be good unless someone kept it on a trickle charger all the time.

Ferrari Roadside sent the contracted tow company for Continental Auto Sports here in Chicago. He was able to get the screws off with some work and his jump box did not start the car. We heard the relay clicking.

How easy is it to change a battery?
The car just came off Power Cube 5 days ago...and now have Power Normal Warranty.
I just got the car 10 days ago as Ferrari CERTIFIED Pre-Owned from out of state.

Based on all this, should I still have to pay for a new battery...and the battery was replaced around 2+ years ago by the Ferrari Dealership.

    I have the following options:
    1. Getting it towed on Monday
    2. Buying a new battery

    Thoughts?

After I got my car. I let it set in the garage for a week. Went to start and nothing happen. Like what you are having.
Even if someone has told you that the battery is two years old, I would not trust that.
Buy a new good battery, there are several that you can use. Just make sure the size is right (fits in the box).
Than you want have to worry.

The battery you have now could have a bad cell and most auto places will tell you that if the battery is not charged, than can not get a good read on it.

Also this is a good time to add a trickle charger for when the cars sits.

Get a trickle charger with a pig tail. Hook the pig tail to the battery and hide it behing the foot well. When you get ready to leave the car for a while, reach over the foot well, grab the end and hook it up to the charger.

    Mine works great this way.
