HELP! DEAD 355

    Help!

    I am a brand new owner of a 98 355 spyder. Started fine, warmed for a minute or two. shut down to answer the phone. Now when I turn the key I get NOTHING, no dash warning lights, no starter. lights and radio etc work.

    Any ideas?

    Did you push the alarm button? You need the 2 chirps or nothing will happen.

    OK,

    Bear with me, I have no specific alarm manual. I have the red fob only. I have had times where I forgot to push it, and you get dash warning lights but nothing else - push it, get the chirps, and no problem. I am getting the two chirps, but still nothing.

    Something new though. Now when I arm it, I get one chirp, then three slow chirps after that...

    ??

    OOPS,

    Bonnet was open, that was the three chirps.

    Still Dead as can be, Ecu fuse is good...

    I'm thinking that you need to take a look at your battery. Perhaps your ignition switch needs work. It would be best to just start tracing down the circuit and see what it is. Sooner or later you'll find one or more parts that need replacement.

    I had (almost) same problem as a brand new owner...since when do you have to disarm a car to start it when I didn't arm it in the first place? I'd guess battery is fine for now, it doesn't take much juice to at least try to crank over. If you're getting nothing at all may be an arm / disarm issue. On my black fob I hit the button once and two flashes means it's disarmed.

    Thanks everyone. As a condition of sale, the previous owner had the steering column housing refinished (Sticky Problem). When they did the work, they must have jarred the harness connector on the ignition switch. I took apart the column, replugged the connections, and all is well again.

    Good to hear...now go enjoy that beauty! I did the same to my steering column recently, lucking I avoided touching any connectors... :)

    You think you got issues?? How about a 355 when you pull the key out the engine is still running!!

    Ha! You'd know much better than me, but I'd pull off the harness connector to the ignition switch...if the 355 was *still* running, then I'd pull the relays, one at a time, to the ecus.




    (of course, if it is still running after that, call her "Christine" and get the heck out of there!)

    That's actually an upgrade feature :) My '69 Firebird does that, very handy to hop out and unlock the garage door without having to turn the car off.
