So the problem is that I have never driven a ferrari and I have no idea what these models are like on the road. I'm looking to purchase in the summer of 2007. Any advice from local owners is appreciated.

I live in Newton MA and the question I have for you local F-chatters is this...

When i am ready to buy would anyone take me on a 5 min ride so I can experience each car? I know they are all different and I just wanted to see what the experience is like so i can decide on a model to search for. I know it's an odd request and bold but you never know. It's certainly ok to say no and just offer tips/info.

    Steve,

Tag me in the spring. Problem is, my car is far from stock so you may want to ask Birdman or Verell. Check this board around April as i usually mention open track days at NHIS (Louden, NH), so we can meet at the track. Sadly, unless you are a competition licensed driver you can't sit in passenger seat for a ride :(

Ahh Steve, Thanks for being so nice. I've hit your site before and wathced all of your vids. I go to limerock each year for the challenge and historic races so i get a chance to see some of the road cars. I say hello as I get closer to purchase time and hopefully see you at limerock in July.

    Steve,
I have a carbed 308 and I'll be happy to take for for a run. Verell has a nice example of a QV (late injected) 308. Our good buddy John ("Frenchman" AKA spider348 on Fchat) has a perfect 348 spider I'm sure he'll take you for a ride in, and we have a couple regulars that have 355s too. Kenny has a TR though he doesn't make out Starbucks meetings in Beverly on Sundays because he's on the south shore. That car is a rocket.

Tough to make a decision. Those three cars are very different in looks, cost to buy, cost to maintain and handling/power.

Thanks a million Birdman. I've been a fan of Ferrari since i was about 8. And even then i was into the older Ferraris and not following the Magnum PI hype. So yeah all of the cars are so different in every way so I'm not sure what to do yet. The only thing that would help is again, a ride in them. I love all of those models and i'm just plain ole torn between em. I think all will fall within a 10k range of 40-50..except for most TR's.

    Thanks agian!

Starbucks on me when the time comes.

I have owned all three. A 84 308 QV , 91 348 tb and currently a 91 TR. The TR is my favorite. The Tr is however a GT car and not as nimble as the 308 / 348. the 348 is a lot quicker than the 308 but there are days when I miss my 308. I miss the 348 too just not as much as the 308. :)

What Birdman said - show up at Starbucks in North Beverly on sunny Sundays, get to know the folks who gather there, show a genuine interest and I sure you will get good buying tips, rides etc

It's funny how many people miss their 308 when they sell them. That's why, even though I hope to buy a 348 in next couple years, I will never sell my 308.

One last bit of advice. Try not to buy a Ferrari in the summer. Sell them in the spring/summer, buy in the fall/winter. You can save a few grand by buying at the right time of year.
