Would disconnect, wait, reconnect battery resolve? Or is that a really dumb thought?

The newer cars may retain the error in their memory despite the hard reset and need the dealer system to reset it.

It's still under warranty. I'd take it to the dealer as the italian princess says. :)

I have no idea but if I were to guess, I would say it's a safety measure to protect the direct fuel injection.

My suggestion would be to call the dealer first and see what they say. It may be a simple reset and then again, to not avoid the warranty, they may need to check it.

I'm not sure I would do anything other than talk to the dealer first.

    Ran out of fuel?

    On a track day?

I think the last time I ran a car out of fuel was back in 1986.

You certainly are a better man than I. Here in Canada there are few filling stations between igloos and small villages and hamlets on Northern roads.

sorry to hear about your problem. If it is under warrenty I would call the dealer. I am on my third Ferrari and sometimes they clear up after a few start and stop cycles. I am not sure of the 458. Mine has not had this problem. This is most likely a long shot.

If you do not know a dealer send me a private message and I will call my dealer. The Orlando bunch are good people and and I can call them if you like.

the 458 does not have a gas cap like the older cars. I would go to a gas station and put a little gas in to cycle the fill opener. Maybe it did not seat well. Are you sure you put in 93 octane or do you hear a little ping in the engine. These are long shots.

    Good luck to you.
