    Nanjing Road East.

It's in the JW Marriott building on Tomorrow Square. Last time I was in there they had a Red 575M, Blue Trofeo, a Red Coupe, and two girls who didn't speak much English. That was a couple of weeks ago, I think. Judge4re might have the SN on them.

Spice glider has it right. He is refering to Italian Motors who have the dealership for Hongkong and China. There is another showroom on Yannan Rd which is an agent, they have been selling Ferrari for a years or so.
There is not much choice of cars though at the moment as the dealer only opened about six weeks ago.

In ten years here I have only seen one Ferrari other then my own on the roads here, except for the F1 opening when we had around 70 cars, mostly from HK, Singapore and Japan. Only about six cars were mainland cars and all were 360"s

I'm quite surprised there's only six in a country with that robust economic growth.

Once you are outside the city the higways are ok but the rest of the roads suit Range Rovers etc.

I guess there are more but you do not see them. I have heard there a few if Beijing but I have never seen one there.

So I guess for now the Shanghai Ferrari club is just me, Judge4re and Spiceglider.

Same as in Indonesia, the roads are awful here but that didn't discourage people to buy exoticars. Even in 1985 my friend's dad in Junior High already has a 512BB. There was also a 512BB with Koenig bodykit but I've never sen them.

Today I think there are around 30 F-cars known in Jakarta, mostly 355 and 360 but also an F40, F50 and 3 Enzos... and yes, the country is still in economic crisis. :)

How much is a 360Modena in China? Back here it's about US$ 400k

    Cheers,
    Taffy

No official Lambo dealer, but several Independent Importer did bring a couple of Murcis. Well, there is a Countach 25th also down here, imported many years ago.

The gray market was really big before the opening of car imports in 1996, so it is no surprise to see many exotics back in the 80's.

    I have 308GTSIQV 1984 model in Shanghai

Judge and Spiceglider have their cars in the USA so they share mine while they are here.

I have met the Chinese guy with a 360 over in Puxi but we are not in the same social circle, as for the other Shanghai cars. They are well hidden, you never see them.

    When are coming to Shanghai?

Sorry do not know. I passed the Italian Motors showroom yesterday, there was a 456 and a Masserati on display, the only cars. I would think with a little chat you should be ok they are not rushed off their feet with customers.

Superior Motors will probably have a 360 and a few other non F cars, no one speaks English there or at least they did not last year when I poped in.

I'm curious do the salesmen at Italian motors in china have the same typical ferrari showroom attitude?

Well I am not sure as I have never been in the Hongkong showroom, But Mr. Herbert Adamczeck was a real gentleman when I met him in Shanghai for the opening and the track day.

I have only visited once since the opening and there was no one there to talk to so I do not know.

I have been in business in Shanghai for 10 years and I have learned one thing, here you have to be Chinese in mentality to survive. Even if you are a large corporate.

They have one Ferrari in the showroom and a small display of merchandise which is not for sale, not even a cap or at least that was what they had when I was there. The Maseratti people on the openening were great but so far since there has not been much action.

So to answer you question, it is to early for attitude, just now they are trying to find the way.

Having had the only Ferrari in Shanghai for some time, and the people I have met through my car I am sure I could sell a few for them but they will go the way all corporates go when they arrive here, spend lots oh money on the wrong things and bring in people who will try to do things the way it is done in Italy or America. Then wonder why it is not working, this is China and we do things differently here, on the obverse I am sure I would not survive in Italy either.

Nonsense. You would charm their designer socks right off their feet.

Judge and I have been to the showroom a couple of times and the place is just dead. I think both times I've been (excluding the opening) there were two or three girls that didn't speak any English. And, I don't think they made any attempt to speak Chinese to us.

BTW - Judge should be back from "where ever he is this week" Saturday morning. Stop by for a beer in the afternoon. Bring the 308 and we'll wash it. Maybe we can get it to rain.

I am in Shanghai rite now. If I have the chance to stop by one of the showrooms, which should I go to? The one on Yanan, or the one on Nanjing? I'd really like to see a 360 Spider...

I'll be back in town Saturday. I'm in Seoul right now, or at least I think I am.

Let's see, Sunday: Tokyo, Monday: Shanghai and Beijing, today: Seoul. When can I fit a side trip to Hong Kong in on my schedule?

At least I had a steak for dinner. Makes up for the donkey meat I had for lunch (and no, I'm not kidding). Welcome to China.

You know what Hun? There are some things I just don't need to know. And what you eat might be one of them. I swear, you will eat anything that's put in front of you. At least you're easy to cook for. I know, I know: it was in the brochure!!!

Mclaren: I've only been to the Nanjing Lu showroom. They didn't have a 360-anything there. And, there was only 1 F and 2 masers. Don't know if that would be worth the trip for you. It's in the ground floor of the JW Marriott building.

So does that mean you don't want to know about the kimchi we had that was flavored with plutonium at dinner? ;)

I think we're going to become the first couple that bickers to each other on Fchat...

Donkey meat! You were lucky, at least it was not Deers Whip, a favorite here in China. See you at the weekend
