    Hello everyone,

Does anyone know where I can source the union, which is attached to the secondary air valve?
    See the attached pic.
It isn't stocked anymore at the usual Ferrari sources.
The thread inside the nut is destroyed.
I can attempt to cut off the olive and replace the nut with similar, but just wondered if anyone knows of one anywhere?

Algar Ferrari appears to have one in stock. Considering the price of the union, I'd be checking some of the auto recycling yards...

I know what you mean. The price came in at nearly £100 from eurospares, when vat and delivery are added... Until they told me they couldn't supply the part.
I've scoured the Internet for some salvage ones, but haven't had any luck as yet.

There are ways to repair it if you can't find a replacement. Best case would be that it could be repaired just by running a die over it. If the threads are completely toast it might could be rethreaded in a slightly smaller size. Or a bushing could be fabricated and brazed or silver soldered on top of the existing threads. If the tube is long enough it could be shortened and a compression fitting could be installed. Several ways to go, just depends on how original you want it to look.

    Thanks for the replies.
It's actually the threaded compression nut, at the manifold end. Not the one that attaches to the valve itself. Sorry for not being clear.
I'm wanting to keep it looking as original as possible.
That's why I was considering cutting off the old nut, removing the olive (if possible) and sourcing a new compression nut, as close to original as I can get.

Have you got a pic of the parts and a few sizes, best to look online for a hydraulics company or try RS Componients in the UK. Their online system lists hundred of these with pics and sizes. If u put a pic and sizes i will have a look as i used to work with these a lot. It may not be exact but we might find something to fit

Ah-ha. That's not the part I was picturing to be messed up. Can the nut not be rethreaded with a die?

However you wind up repairing it be sure to use plenty of high temp anti-seize on reassembly.

Unfortunately I'm away with work until Thursday. So can't verify the size. But I'd guess it's about M22. (Just grabbing some sneaky internet time!)
RS components is a good shout. I'll have a check and see what they show online. Suppose there will be a few material selections too. Thinking passivated may be the way to go?
Will definitely be adhering to that! Some of the manifold connections have behaved as though they're welded together!

I found a better pic on Eurospares and that part is easy to make provided you get the thread sizes. After all it is just a bit of bent pipe with a standpipe and a few fittings. Is it taking compressed air ? If so put loctite nutlock on the threads or loctite brake and airline sealant on the olive surface just before you fit it. This airline sealant is great as it seals any damage without getting too heavy with the spanners, has the advantage of a great seal. Cannot make out the exact fittings until get pics

I would bet that this is hardly a Ferrari part. It has to be widely available for similar era cars. The trick is to get the specifications right so you can source it. None of these types of parts are proprietary.

Well unfortunately after a quick scan of the garage I don't see it. I have manifolds, the crossover pipe and a bunch of the hoses and everything but I can't find the damn pipe. I do have the whole setup for a 360 and I guess that is the one I was thinking about. I try to get a more in depth look and see if it is around.

Ok. No problem, fingers crossed you manage to locate it!

It just feeds pumped air (from electric pump), I'm not sure on the pressure.
Definitely seems like it should be easy to replicate the principle. However welding on the sample port may test my skills...
Its getting it to look 'stock' that's more of a concern, don't really want it to stand out as a cobbled together hybrid!
I will measure up on Friday and post the relevant sizes, see if we can source the fittings.
Fortunately the one-way-valve is ok....These are upwards of £300 on their own!

In the meantime, will hope 97 Spider has a successful treasure hunt.
    No pressure.....!!

If u r measuring up the threads, check the thread pitch as if these are metric they come in 2 different forms, ie metric course and metric fine. So you will have different distances between the thread peaks.
Easy way to do this is to put some dirty oil from the dip stick on the male thread and then press a piece of paper on the threads so it thansfers the thread form. You can then measure the distance over a few threads

    Hi All,
Quick update for everyone who replied...!

Sorry its taken so long, been away with work.
After detailed inspection of the part we established the thread size at the secondary air injection rail is in fact M24. The olive on the end of the union is actually welded on to the pipe. Thought it might have been sweated/braized on, but it didn't rub up silver when scratched....
I couldn't find an exact replica of the M24 nut anywhere. Tried all the hydraulic fitting specialists, with no luck.
My plan was to source a normal, straight M24 nut and machine it down, to replicate the 'collar' on the Ferrari part. Weld a new collar/olive onto the old pipe and hey presto, problem solved.

In the meantime, a last chance call to Stratstone Ferrari in Wilmslow, resulted in a chat with an extremely helpful guy, who actually managed to source a second hand union!
For £60. Bargain. Massive thanks to them.

Union is now here and has been attached to shiny new Tubi Headers. Should be firing up tomorrow all being well.

I've attached some pics of the union and the part finally installed.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.
