    Hi,
this evening after two strong brakes I hear a continous puff near the pedal of the brake, not when I use the pedal, only when it is released and with low rpm.
    What's it?
    Many thanks.

Does it make this noise with the car not running, if you touch and release the pedal?

    dear,
if the membrane is broken I need another vacuum servo?
To brake is like first, no problem, no hard.
    Many thanks.

    so:
the pedal is normal, no hard
    good brake
I hear always a "hissing" sound when the pedal is realesed, after a brake when I release the pedal and for few seconds when I stop the engine like unloid the air.
    Problems:
is it the valve, the pipes pr the vacuum servo?
    What' the procedure to understand?
    Many thanks to all.

I had a similar problem , only braking took more effort than.

look for my thread: (I try to copy the link but failed)

    brake problem 308QV

i did repair the membrane but in the thread there are quite some pictures of the servo-parts.

it could be the valve but i set my cards on the membrane ( which is not a real membrane but a large disk made of plastic and a small flexible edge made of rubber. In my case the plastic part was at fault. It had some major cracks)

If your membrane is suptured/broken, you are sucking extra air into the engine, which should express itself in a hingher idle.
If your pedal is feeling normal, I'd start by renewing the one-way valve and see if that solves the problem.
If the one-way valve is 'open', you should feel a difference in the amount of assist you're getting, depending on engine vacuum. If it is just leaking a little, that won't be the case, but you'll get the hissing sound of the vacuum in the chamber getting filled with athmospheric pressure after engine shutdown..

    Hi Jack,
Just yesterday my sister was over from SA and she told me they closed Chapman's Peak Drive. What a shame!!!
some great memories of that road!

    Hi Steven,

Yes, Chappies has been closed for quite a while now, and it is uncertain when it will open again. Don't ask me why, I'd have to become politically incorrect to explain.

Too bad, it was our saturday morning drive.

I'm in Simon's Town, Chapman's peak is 'around the corner':)

    Back to original thread!

Alright, just curious. If I touch the brake pedal when the car is not running, and release it, there will be a small 'whooshing' noise. It's always been that way since I've owned the car, and it has been road tested by two of the best Ferrari techs in the country. Brakes work perfectly.
