Hello all, I'm brand new (as in just joined today) here. Sometime over the next week, once it is thoroughly looked over by "a pro", I may become the very proud owner of a 1984 308GTS QV. This will be my first Ferrari and a car I have coveted for over 20 years now. I've done a bunch of research and am definitely approaching this from a cautious, educated perspective. I'm looking forward to joining the community of Ferrari owners. Got a couple of questions to start: Anyone had personal experience with Berlinetta Motorcars of Huntington, NY and/or the Ferrari dealer in Glen Cove (specifically, the latter's parts and service department)? Doug at Berlinetta seems like a well-respected Ferrari man who clearly knows what he's doing... Would like to hear any stories of experience... Also, what is the consensus (if there is one) on the most appropriate tires for this car (summer high performance--this will not be driven in winter). There are several brands and options out there and I could use the help narrowing it down. Also, if you know a good place to BUY tires in Queens/Long Island City/NYC please let me know. Finally, any other advice would be appreciated for this newby who, somehow, is going to keep a Ferrari in Manhattan and get as far out of the city as possible with it every weekend chance I get... I appreciate the reply! It certainly seems that I have found the right forum. I look forward to the conversation. Lined up the pre-purchase inspection today, that will happen this week and hopefully then we're good to go.
