I recently bought a euro 360 Spider. I live in California and as a result I have a couple of challenges. I will have the US registration issues worked out next week.

Now I am onto other things like the variator issue and any other open campaigns/recalls.

    Here is my problem:
Ferrari North America doesn't track campaigns for non-US cars. This makes them mostly useless.

I have heard that if you call the dealership in Europe they will provide you with what campaigns are open and send parts if appropriate; I pay for labor. Unfortunately I don't know what country the car was originally shipped from and I don't know what dealership.

I suspect I can get answers by calling Ferrari in Europe but I don't know how to contact them. Of course the web site is pretty useless. Can someone out there point me in the right direction? Maybe provide a phone number.

As you can guess I speak English and nothing else so I need to make contact with someone who speaks English.

Thanks in advance for the help. Post an answer or PM me if you feel that is more appropriate.

    First,

If the car came with the documents, I would look in there for dealer / owner information.

    Second,

If you contact DOT they may have the documentation or the State of CA DMV might have it.

    Wolfgang,

sorry for a small hijack, but do you think that address would also help me in obtaining a Certificate of Conformity (EU Konformitätserklärung) to transfer my car to France? I've tried just writing to Ferrari SpA and used their website but no answer ever comes.

Nice to see you're still active - whatever happened to the German Chat section?

What is the origin of your car ?

Possibly worth trying the area importer - eg Ferrari West Europe

You tried directly at Ferrari Germany? I never had an issue like this with a Fcar but when i went to French dealership with a Maser imported from Germany; they made me a paper they sent to Maserati FR which gave me the certificate (the price was 120 euros i think... or i'm messed with the bimmer i got...)

@topic starter: is the car properly registered in Cali or not? I know several cases of re-exported 360s after 1 year...

I picked up my CoC directly from the Ferrari dealer. Bring your car to the dealer in France and let them arrange it for you. I could pick mine up the next day.

Wow, that sounds good! I'll probably be in France with the 348 this summer, but I guess they could do it also on the basis of the chassis number. Thanks Ton!

Didn't try them as I was trying to "negotiate" their support for the homologation of a wheel change to be legal in Germany and thought it would torpedo my chances by effectively anouncing I was perhaps going to export the car anyway!

    Wolfgang,
Thanks for the help. I will give them a call and check on what campaigns are open on this car.

As far as I know I got everything except the red faub, key numbers, and code. I have a total of 3 keys so keys are not a problem. Having only one faub and no code is a problem. There are a lot of differing answers on this board but I am looking into that now.

After posting I sat down and looked at the manuals. I should have started there. The car was delivered in Milano and driven in Europe for a while, ~1200 miles. It was then brought to the US. It went to NY for a very short time, don't think it was ever driven. The guy in NY bought it in Italy and had the legalization done. FNA fought the import so it took a long time. By the time it was cleared I think he had moved on so it was immediately sold to a guy in Chicago, IL. I got it from that owner.

I have not completed the registration in CA yet but I am done with the DMV (department of motor vehicles). I need to clear our smog check now. I have an appointment on Tuesday with a special smog station known as a referee station. They will check that the modifications were performed to be legal. They will also run the emissions test. After I pass that, they will put a bar code on the car that says I am CA legal. In the future I can test anywhere.

I have called and talked with the Referee. He says that with the documentation that I have everything should be just fine. I think I have a handle on the worst case track as well. I will report back after I complete the process.

    Thanks all,

    John

So, it's an Italian car from Italy, who would have thought? Congrats!!

That should be all you need with the chassis number.....

Do you have the DOT paperwork?
