1st time I filled up my 89TR (owned for almost 2months) got home and parked it on my slightly inclined driveway. Smelled gas and looked underneath and saw a steady drip of gas from the middle of the car (just to the left of the oil filter and right at the edge of the cover plates). By the time I parked it into the garage to jack it up it stopped leaking and I couldn't find where it was leaking from. Took it for another drive and parked it in driveway, it starts leaking again, but as soon as I drive it into the garage which is level it stops leaking. Where could it be leaking from? Could I have overfilled the gas? Just had my 30k service 3wks ago too.

There are several hoses connected to the top edge of the gas tank that would not normally be wetted (fuel evaporation system, venting to the gas filler neck, etc.), but if they are cracked and you have a full tank on an incline = liquid fuel could leak out; whereas, it wouldn't when on a level surface. See TAV 9 and 10 in the TR SPC.

Same thing happened to me five years ago. Replaced the fuel lines. Do not drive it until you fix the problem. Good luck. And, never overfill ANY car.

to be on a safe way I would replace all fuel hoses ( so included the connection between the 2 tanks and the return lines ) ASAP

It still maybe leaking when on a flat surface but only when its on the incline physically tracking to where it can run out. Remove the protection plates and have a physical check. They are not difficult to remove.

I had a leak that looked the exact same as Sam has shown above and it was the hoses connecting to the drainage section. It sits right next to the pumps. All mine needed was to be properly tightened.

Once you have access to the area youll be able to trace the leak. When youre in there if your fuel lines look old and/or perished then replace them even if they are not the root cause of the leak.

Do not pull on the fuel lines to remove them. You must cut them with a razor blade at the fitting FIRST. The nipples are aluminum and will break right off. Change all of them and save your self a lot of headaches.
People with Italian cars should keep a bag of marshmallows handy at all times because of the old gas lines and the wiring.
