Hi, I have just got my 78 308 GT4 back from the body shop and I can't open the engine cover, the cables have snapped! I tried the emergency one in the trunk and that came right out! Any idea how you can open it? Regards Nick
Do you know if they took the levers out of the rear quarter when painting, and not reattached the cables firmly? Try taking the levers panel out of the door apperture and see if the cables are visible Nigel.
If you can raise the car, you can probably manipulate the latch by reaching from below. Mine is a euro model so there is a little extra room in the engine compartment. Mike
OK, this might be useful to anyone who gets stuck! Jack the car up, remove teh inner arch moulding undo two screws holding one side of the vent. This drops down just enough to get a 17mm spanner on the lock nut of the spigot from the top of the car. Undo do this from the engine cover - Voila! What a pain in the a**e!
Yes Mark all sorted! At least I now know that if the cables lor the latch are broken there is a way in. The car is pefect, I think you will agree when we meet up in july! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
