I have a 2006 F430 with the stock Becker and subwoofer box. The two woofers look like they are aqbout 6.5", but I have been told they are actually a 5.25 woofer and a 5.25" passive radiator. Has anybody replaced the driver with something better without replacing the box? Or is the box a no-go?

If you kept the stock woofer box, what drivers did you use and what amp?

I spent some time and gave up. I forgot all the dimensions, but it is not a standard size. IIRC, it is close to a 5-1/4". Problem is that the box is some injection molded piece, and the driver and passive radiator are held in by 4 screws with nuts embedded in the box (most drivers are 6 holes). Also, the lip where the driver rests is rather wide while the recess diameter is rather small. I could not find a driver with a basket that was compatible, and I didn't think it was worth cutting up the stock box. It will take some modification to carefully adapt and/or you may wind up having to recover it.

Mine is a Scuderia, so the "sub" box (which is actually not crossed over and gets full range) is not the weak link. In the Scud, it is the joke front speakers which are next to useless. I have upgraded those and added crossovers which cost me a few ounces and called it good enough because the best sound is from behind. Keep in mind that except for the sub box, the Scuderia speakers are completely different.
