Saw this the other day and was wondering exactly what car it is? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, in the movie isn't this the car of some rich patron that Dell'Oro (Gilbert Roland driving) and Gino Borgesa (Kirk Douglas) riding shotgun, got tanked and flogged one evening throught the hills outside of Monte Carlo... As they staggered back into the hotel they are yelling to the bellman to tell the owner that the didn't like the car... "Tell him I spit in your crankcase" yells Roland.... Interesting movie with all of the old F1 Ferrari's. Haven't seen it in probably 20 years, but it was neat to see all the classic stuff in there.....
That is my understanding. I have even seen the body's builder referenced as "Carrozzeria Modena" once or twice. I was always fascinated by how modern the body looked when photographed from a high front 3/4 angle...the way the nose and grille curve under so sharply makes it look more rakish than other 166s of that era. The nose resembles this 166MM berlinetta's. Note: Photo copied from ***************.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
now i'm thinking... wasn't it this one founded by piero drogo? and that MM above is carrozzeria morelli right?
This car was body in house by Ferrari's own people. The dispatch sheet on the car states "Carrozzerria Scuderia Ferrrai." The car was featured in the movei the racers and later gave Pete Lovely his start in racing. Regards, Bill Noon
