I'm afraid those pictures don't give enough detail for much of an educated guess. Can you give me a "straight-on" shot of the lens, or the entire assembly?

My first guess would be something like the big Rover P5 3-litre, which does have kind of a "wrap-around" effect, and would have been readily available in 1962.

And of course it would help to have any names/number found on the lens - Lucas? Hella, again?

Mark, I've looked at a lot of pictures, in a lot of books, and I've come up with exactly ONE guess: the German Ford Taunus 15M Limousine from about 1957. The 12M and the 17M are different. The later 15M from the Sixties is different. This was the only front turn signal I could find that combined the "wrap around" look and the "teardrop" look (more pointy on one end than on the other). It's also amber. Being a German car, it could very well use Hella lighting. Where you would find a new pair of them, I don't know. It would take some digging. If there are Hella numbers on the lens and/or the housing, you MAY be able to at least confirm whether I am right or wrong by contacting a specialist in Germany. What do you think?

Hi, Mark; I'll see if I can reach my "contact" in Germany about a possible source for these front lights from Hella. First, we try to confirm what they are, second, we try to find out if anyone has them, third, we find out if they're "dreaming" on what they're worth.

I stopped at my local VW repair shop (they specialize in the old air-cooled cars) and asked if they might possibly have an old Hella catalog sitting in the back room. He looked at me like I had two heads. Oh well. He had a pair of repro early rear Karmann Ghia lights on display, they DO look quite a bit like your rear lights, but the housing fits onto a curved surface, not a flat surface. And they were NOT made by Hella, they may be Mexican knockoffs or something. The originals would have been Hellas, but I personally don't think these would match the mounting surfaces on your car.

From the picture in the old Thoroughbred & Classic Cars article on the MA-200 (June 1985), the round lights at the front of the AC appear to be standard Fiat (or NSU Fiat) items as used on many cars. These should be easy to find.

I'd love to see more pix of your car!
